Morgan Evans Fires Back At Kelsea Ballerini's Harsh Divorce Claims With Shade Of His Own
In August 2022, country stars Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans announced to the world that they were getting a divorce after five years of marriage. Both of them took to their Instagram pages to announce the split. While Ballerini focused on how she's been handling the news being more public, Evans expressed how he wished things would have turned out differently.
Ballerini has been open about her feelings about the divorce, even though she's not a fan of being in the public eye regarding her personal life. "I'm a 29-year-old woman who got married really young to a person that I was so deeply in love with, by the way," the "HEARTFIRST" singer said on a December 2022 episode of the "Tell Me About It" podcast, continuing, "And I have to honor that, even through the mess of it right now."
Later in the episode, Ballerini revealed that during her marriage with the Australian singer, she would go through phases of losing that feeling of love and connection, and one day, it didn't come back. "At the end of the day, it is such a disservice and a dishonoring of yourself if you know something is not right and you stay," she said. Still, the two had been keeping it pretty amicable, but it seems that Evans wants to tell his side of the story.
Morgan Evans says Kelsea Ballerini's words about their divorce aren't reality
On February 22, Kelsea Ballerini told all about her marriage to Morgan Evans and what ultimately led to their divorce on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast. She started out by saying that the marriage went through separations and couples therapy. She even admitted to sleeping on the couch at some points. "I don't pin the whole downfall on him at all," she said, adding that she had "checked out" of the marriage a while before the divorce was official. She then mentioned that she was "angry" and "livid" that Evans released his new single shortly after announcing their separation.
And it looks like the Australian singer is feeling the same about his ex-wife's decision to talk publicly about their split. "It's really sad for me to see this person, who I spent so much of my life with, and loved with all my heart, saying things that aren't reality and that leave out what really happened," he captioned an Instagram post. He added that although he doesn't like the public attention, he understands that it's what Ballerini needs to heal from the divorce.
Following the split, Evans released "Over For You," where he questioned the decision to divorce and when it was truly over for his ex-wife. Ballerini then released "Rolling Up the Welcome Mat" on Valentine's Day, responding to the questions in her ex-husband's single.
