Gavin Rossdale Becomes First-Time Grandfather As Daughter Daisy Lowe Welcomes Child
Gen Xers, can you believe it? Bush heartthrob Gavin Rossdale is officially a grandfather. Rossdale's daughter, Daisy Lowe, has welcomed her first child. "Our Easter egg finally hatched," Daisy captioned a post on her Instagram feed on April 9. "Ivy Love Saul you have made all my dreams come true– our dream girl. I have never known happiness or love like this. I can't stop crying tears of joy," she added. Daisy's photo showed her and her fiance Jordan Saul in the hospital holding their newborn.
Daisy, who is a fashion model, and Jordan announced their engagement in September. "We took this picture this afternoon moments before @jordanjaysaul ASKED ME TO MARRY HIM!!! I said f*** yes ... i am officially your fiancé & I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you my hubby to be," she captioned an Instagram post at the time. A month later, Lowe shared the exciting news that she was expecting her first child. "Jordan & I are having a baby," she captioned a photo of her baby bump on Instagram. "We are absolutely bursting at the seams with happiness. I'm oscillating wildly between excitement & nervousness with a dash of morning sickness thrown in for good measure," Daisy continued.
Daisy's mom is Pearl Lowe, an interior designer who's written a few books, but the full truth of Daisy's parentage was a secret for years.
Gavin Rossdale didn't know that Daisy was his daughter
When Daisy Lowe was born, Gavin Rossdale was asked to be her godfather. In an article penned by Pearl Lowe for the Daily Mail, she explained that she split from holistic fertility doctor Bronner Handwerger, whom she believed to be her daughter's father when Daisy was only 12 months. She told the Daily Mail she was raising her daughter alone by 1991. Pearl, who had a one-night stand with Rossdale after a fight with Handwerger, said that Daisy requested a paternity test as a teenager after learning that she and her mom didn't have the same blood type. The results of the test revealed that Rossdale was Daisy's biological dad.
On the March 21, 2022, episode of "That Gaby Roslin Podcast," Daisy said that she and her dad have "the same mannerisms." "I'm a really firm believer that everything happens for a reason," she continued. "We did have a really rocky start, but we figured it out and I'm really grateful that we kind of figured it out as and when we did," she added. These days, Daisy and her dad are "super close." In a birthday tribute posted on Instagram to Daisy in January, Rossdale described his daughter as a "radiant and generous spirit."
Becoming a granddad is a new chapter for Rossdale, who is also a dad to three boys with his ex-wife Gwen Stefani. He commented on his granddaughter's social media birth announcement with a string of red heart emojis.
