Jon Bon Jovi Met His Wife As A Teenager Like Son Jacob And Millie Bobby Brown
Jon Bon Jovi's son, Jacob Hurley Bongiovi, is living on a prayer and hoping his engagement to Millie Bobby Brown doesn't give love a bad name. Their betrothal set tongues wagging due to their ages — Bongiovi is 20, and Brown's just 19 — but he's following in his famous father's footsteps by vowing to never say goodbye to his teen love.
Per Entertainment Weekly, Brown broke the internet after posting a photo of her and Bongiovi embracing, with a massive sparkler on her wedding finger. "I've loved you three summers now, honey; I want 'em all," the actor captioned the cute pic. She may still be young, but Brown's relationship history proves this isn't her first time at the romance rodeo.
The teen's grown up in front of the camera, so it's fitting that her earliest intimate encounter was watched by millions. Brown was 11 when she smooched her "Stranger Things" costar Finn Wolfhard. "I kissed Finn. It was definitely strange," she told Interview. "It was, like, my first kiss, so it was kind of weird." Her first serious relationship was with Jacob Sartorius. They dated for seven months before announcing their split on Instagram (via Billboard). Then, she was shot through the heart by Bongiovi. Per Page Six, they went public in June 2021 — and it turns out Jon Bon Jovi met his wife as a teenager too, just like his son Jacob and Millie Bobby Brown — and they're still going strong.
It's a bed of roses for Bon Jovi and Dorothea
Jacob Hurley Bongiovi didn't need any reassurance that young love can last. Jon Bon Jovi met Jacob's mom, Dorothea Bongiovi — when they were 18. According to People, they started dating in high school in 1980. However, Bon Jovi was focused on his music career, so they waited until 1989 to get married.
Per All Music, Bon Jovi hit the big time in 1986 with "Slippery When Wet." He cemented his place in pop-metal history with its 1988 follow-up "New Jersey." So, Bon Jovi was a bonafide star when he chose wedded bliss and four kids over sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll. And, unlike most other celebs who got hitched young and then ditched the wife for a newer model, Bon Jovi has never wavered from Dorothea's side.
To mark 40 years together and 31 years of marriage, the couple opened up to People about the secret to their successful relationship. ″Mutual respect,″ Bon Jovi said. ″Having grown up together and grown together. And we really like each other. We want to hang out.″ He credited Dorothea for helping him stay true to his roots and not allowing fame to go to his head. "We enjoy each other, and we never fell for the trappings of what celebrity can do,″ he said. ″We've witnessed that happen over the years to people that were close to us."
So, what does Bon Jovi think about his future daughter-in-law, Millie Bobby Brown?
What price love?
Luckily for Jacob Hurley Bongiovi, his dad, Jon Bon Jovi, is a big fan of Millie Bobby Brown. According to Hollywood Life, Bon Jovi and Dorothea Bongiovi totally support their son's relationship, and his fiancé's been welcomed with open arms. "Millie has met Jake's entire family, and they all adore her," a source revealed. "They couldn't be happier that [he's] with such a beautiful, caring, and loving woman."
Bon Jovi and Dorothea know a thing or two about dealing with (and ignoring) marriage naysayers and haters. "A lot of people believe that Jake and Millie are just experiencing young puppy love and that it won't last, but Jake's parents know that it can last because they were the same ages as Jake and Millie when they started dating in 1980," the source claimed.
Meanwhile, Brown's unexpected engagement news was only topped by the ring's price. Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro told Nicki Swift exclusively that Brown's 5-carat sparkler would cost about the same as a high-end luxury car. "I'd estimate the value is close to $150,000, the cost of an Aston Martin Vantage. While close-up photos of the ring aren't available yet, the diamond seems to be either a round cut or a cushion cut," Fried told Nicki Swift. "The ring appears to be a solitaire setting, giving it a classic appearance and allure. I bet a lot of careful planning went into designing a ring of this caliber."
