How Justin Hartley's New Wife Sofia Pernas Gets Along With His Daughter Isabella
When Sofia Pernas married "This Is Us" actor Justin Hartley, she wasn't just welcoming the actor into her life, but also his daughter. Many may not be aware that the actor has a child as he has been very lowkey about being a dad. Nonetheless, it is true! The actor welcomed his daughter, Isabella, in 2004 while he was married to his first wife, Lindsay Korman.
While he's not shouting it from the rooftops, Hartley is still proud to be a dad. He told Us Weekly that his parenting skills would not be where they are without Isabella. "I get a lot of help from my daughter. I mean she's the one that's making it all go around," he admitted. It's clear that Hartley and Isabella have a strong father-daughter connection, and anyone that would come into their lives would have to fit just right. So, when he began dating Pernas in 2020, fans were eager to see if she would be the missing piece to their puzzle.
Pernas and Hartley did end up tying the knot in 2021. As the couple grew in their relationship, so did Pernas and Isabella. It's evident that the fellow actor has shattered all of the typical mean step-mom stereotypes and has created a wonderful relationship with her stepdaughter.

Creating a solid stepmom and stepdaughter relationship can be hard, but Sofia Pernas and Isabella Hartley make it look easy. The duo's admiration for one another is so sweet to see. Pernas, wife to Justin Hartley, has previously gushed about Isabella on the red carpet. The actor told Page Six in April 2022, "She's so wise. I mean, that girl, she's got it figured out! She knows exactly what she wants."
Isabella is just as kind to Pernas as she is to her. In 2021, when Hartley shared a sweet Instagram post honoring "The Young and the Restless" star, Isabella decided to jump in on the birthday celebration. The young teen left a comment on the post saying, "Yay! Happy Birthday! @sofiapernas." The love on social media is mutual, as Pernas has also shared some sweet comments on Isabella's Instagram. The actor shown some birthday love on Isabella's now-deleted Sweet Sixteen post back in 2020. "Happy 16th ma cherie," Pernas commented. And that's not the only comment she's left on one of Isabella's posts, as Pernas called her stepdaughter "beautiful girl" in a selfie the teen had shared online.
Whether it's online or in person, the two clearly have a strong love for one another.
Sofia Pernas approves of Isabella's relationship even if Justin Hartley does not
As Justin Hartley's daughter, Isabella, started getting older, she began doing what any normal teenager would do — dating. However, being the protective dad that he is, the "This Is Us" actor admitted on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" that it has been tough to see. "She's dating a little bit, and man, I just want to crawl in a hole and die...she's wonderful, she's sweet, she's responsible, she's great, she's earned the trust but I hate it," he revealed to Fallon. Although Hartley may be having a difficult time coming to terms with his daughter exploring relationships, her stepmom, Sofia Pernas, is all for it.
Pernas gushed about Isabella's relationship with her boyfriend on the red carpet to Page Six. "She has a beautiful, wonderful boyfriend," the actor shared. "I don't want to say too much because she'll be like, 'Ahh!' but they're awesome." The soap opera actor did reveal both Isabella and her boyfriend are extremely smart and also praised her stepdaughter's maturity in her relationship. "It's rare when you get someone 18 being that precocious about what they want in a partner and not messing up and figuring out from your mistakes later. She's great," she said.
While Hartley may not approve of any boy for Isabella just yet, it must make it easier knowing that Pernas has her back.
