Lindsay Lohan's Dad Wasn't A Fan Of Her Relationship With Aaron Carter

Lindsay Lohan appeared to have it all when she fell victim to Hollywood's child star curse. The "Parent Trap" actor soared to A-list status in her teens, then publicly struggled with her fame for years. Lohan made headlines with her wild partying ways (even getting banned from a famous hotel for not paying up) and numerous bizarre stories that sound fake but aren't.

However, between her own self-determination and Oprah's tough love, she eventually walked away from the spotlight and got her life together. It all started when Lohan moved to Dubai permanently in 2014 and found a more peaceful, grounded way of life. "Moving here was a fresh start," she told Emirates Woman in 2018. "I don't have to be publicly seen all the time, or discuss what I'm doing." It was there that she was able to stage a career comeback that's still going strong and it's in the UAE that she found a stable, everlasting love with Bader Shammas

Lohan's now-husband is a far cry from her dating history, which includes Wilmer Valderrama, Stavros Niarchos, and Samantha Ronson. First, though, there was Aaron Carter. The pair were linked in 2003 and Carter openly admitted in 2005, per Us Weekly, that it was more opportunity than romance for him. "I just got a little bored [with Hilary Duff], so I went and I started getting to know Lindsay," he shared. Needless to say, Lohan's dad wasn't a fan of Carter and he wasn't afraid to admit it.

Lindsay Lohan's dad doesn't mince words about her love life

Lindsay Lohan hasn't always had a great relationship with her dad, Michael Lohan. In fact, Radar learned in 2011 that the actor had actually stopped speaking to her father altogether. They remained estranged for years and Lindsay wasn't even invited to his 2014 wedding to Kate Major. However, Michael told TMZ in 2023 that they had reconciled and were on good terms for several years. Indeed, when Lindsay announced she had gotten engaged to Bader Shammas in 2021, Michael told Page Six he totally approved and was ready to walk her down the aisle. "Lindsay got her life back when she met him, she's been living a really happy and healthy life," he gushed. "I've never seen Lindsay so in love."

The same couldn't be said about Lindsay's past flames, including Aaron Carter. Michael used the opportunity with Page Six to throw massive shade at her first celebrity boyfriend, saying he couldn't be happier about the fact that his daughter had chosen to settle down with someone who doesn't belong to the "Aaron Carters of the world." Not mincing words, Michael also openly disapproved of Lindsay's ex-fiancé, Egor Tarabasov, who drunkenly assaulted her on a beach in Greece in 2016. "[He] isn't the best guy," Michael said. Interestingly, Lindsay mourned Carter's death, telling ET in 2022 that there was "just [a] lot of love there."

Inside Lindsay Lohan and Bader Shammas' relationship

Lindsay Lohan has had a chaotic love life, but she finally found her ideal partner in Bader Shammas. The pair began dating in 2019 and in 2020, she posted their first photo together to Instagram. In the snap, taken at a music festival in Dubai, Lindsay posed with her sister, Ali Lohan, several musicians, and Shammas, whom she called her "boyfriend," per People. Jump to November 2021 and the actor took to Instagram to reveal they had gotten engaged, writing, "My love. My life. My family. My future." The following July, they tied the knot and Lindsay called herself "the luckiest woman in the world." In a since-deleted Instagram post saved by Us Weekly, she shared, "He found me and knew that I wanted to find happiness and grace, all at the same time." Showing just how smitten she was, she gushed, "I am stunned that this is my husband." Then, in March 2023, Lindsay announced they were expecting their first child together, writing, "We are blessed and excited." Dad Michael Lohan told MailOnline, "She'll make an unbelievable mom."

So who is Bader Shammas? He holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Tampa and, as of 2021, he was working as the assistant vice president at Credit Suisse. Page Six also learned that Shammas comes from an affluent family. According to the outlet, his roots originate in Turkey and he belongs to one of the 12 main Christian families based in Kuwait.
