Singer Rachel Platten Reveals Sex Of First Child
Singer Rachel Platten just shared some exciting pregnancy news!
During her appearance on Good Morning America on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, the "Fight Song" hitmaker revealed that she and her husband, former lawyer Kevin Lazan, are expecting a baby girl.
"I'm having a girl! Yay!" Platten said after being presented with pink and blue GMA onesies. While being gifted with the pink one, the expecting mom quipped, "That's it. That's the gender reveal! That's great!"
Platten also performed her new song "You Belong" on the ABC morning show, which she previously dedicated to her unborn daughter. "It was written just for us, and I never intended for the world to hear it because it felt so personal....but sometimes that's exactly the Art that craves other ears," she wrote in part on Instagram on Thursday, Oct. 18. "So, even though I'm in my third trimester and flying and tv performances seem light years away from where I've been living (on the couch ahem), I realized that neither being pregnant nor having this baby will ever prevent me from doing what I love so much in the world."
The singer-songwriter added, "This is me choosing bravery over fear and a little temporary expansion in the midst of some serious nesting. I'm excited."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Platten, 37, first announced that she and Lazan, 38, were expecting their first child together in July 2018. "This is one of my most exciting announcements, but also one of my most vulnerable. So here goes.... I am pregnant!!" Platten shared on social media at the time, captioning a snapshot of herself showing off her growing baby bump. "I can't believe I'm finally typing these words – I have wanted to share this news for months." She went on to add, "The truth is, I am overwhelmed with love, joy and happiness about our baby."
The happy couple tied the knot in a Jewish ceremony held in Bristol, Rhode Island in July 2010.
Also revealing the sex of her baby this week was Teen Mom OG star Catelynn Lowell, who's expecting baby no. 3 with husband Tyler Baltierra in March 2019. "I was so shocked that it was a girl because I for sure thought it was a boy!" she told Us Weekly. Admitting that she wanted a boy "so badly," the reality TV star added, "I'm super excited it's a girl now. Since our miscarriage, I just am thankful to get another chance, and as long as it's healthy, that's all that matters!"
