Ava Phillippe Is Growing Up Fast

Ava Phillippe isn't the little girl we once knew her as. The daughter of Cruel Intentions co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, Ava, who was born in September 1999, has grown up fast. And though she still remains her mother's doppelgänger, she is, of course, more than just the offspring of Hollywood A-listers. In fact, she's already got quite the life of her own now.

Unlike her famous parents, Ava hasn't expressed interest in acting — at least, not at the time of this writing. What she's been tackling instead may actually be a whole lot cooler. Just ask her mom, who's gone on record admitting that her daughter is lot hipper than she is (via Us Weekly). Given Ava's daring hairstyles and fashion-forward wardrobe, she's probably way more stylish than any of us are, too.

Keep reading to learn all about the one-of-a-kind Ava Phillippe and her many passions. This girl is definitely one to keep an eye on, and it's clear she has big things ahead of her.

Model behavior

Given Ava's good family genes, it would only make sense that she would eventually find herself in the modeling business. After all, that's what celebrity daughters do, right? In January 2018, Ava made her official debut as a print model when she appeared in fashion brand Rodarte's Fall/Winter 2018 collection (via W magazine). And Ava was in good company. Though she posed alone, wearing a strapless pink gown with red embellishments, other celebrities, such as Fargo's Kirsten Dunst, Black Panther star Danai Gurira, and Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson, also graced Rodarte's lookbook.

Ava soon added to her modeling portfolio when she became the face of her mother's lifestyle brand that same year, as she promoted the brand's Spring 2018 collection in photos alongside Reese Witherspoon herself, as reported by Harper's Bazaar.

With looks like hers — not to mention her parents' connections to industry bigwigs — we wouldn't be surprised if we saw Ava walking the runway in the future.

A passion for fashion

Ava's interest in modeling certainly makes sense when one considers just how fashionable the young woman really is. Just take a gander at her Instagram page, and you'll find style inspiration for days. Even her mama Reese has gone to her daughter for style advice, as she's clearly on top of the trends. "She's very cutting-edge, and she knows a lot about fashion, and she has her own sense of style, which is amazing," Witherspoon told Us Weekly of Ava in April 2016. "We try to kind of confer about new styles. She tells me whether or not I can wear things."

Part of Ava's drive to be an all-knowing fashion guru (our words, not hers) may come from her determination to be her very own person — not a mini version of her movie star mom. "Ava doesn't want to just be known as Reese's daughter," a source shared with Us Weekly. "She wants her own identity."

We totally get it. No one wants to live in another person's shadow. Fortunately for Ava, she's already making strides in the fashion industry, as she's not only modeled but she's also interned for the retailer Nasty Gal. The girl works hard.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

Not only does Ava Phillippe string together stunning outfits from her likely super-impressive closet to show off her style, but the young model and artist also regularly expresses herself through her hair. For instance, in April 2015, Ava showed off mermaid-like waves on her Instagram page with the ends of her blonde locks partially dyed a faded blue-green shade. In March 2016, she debuted a sweet pink 'do, and in June 2018, she showed off the dark magenta locks she sported in her high school days.

And while her hair has typically been rather long, Ava, like most girls do at some point or other, later felt the call for shorter hair, chopping her tresses into a chic bob, which she rocked on the red carpet for the premiere of her mom's movie A Wrinkle in Time. Considering just how attached people can be to their hair, we totally respect Ava's willingness to dive right into a new hairstyle and evolve her look as she grows. Obviously, she has no problem embracing change.

Ava, the Creator

Rather than train to become a world-renowned thespian, Ava Phillippe has embraced the arts of another kind. As shown on her Instagram page, the young blonde developed some serious skills in both sketching and clay sculpting. And, as if that weren't enough, she's also a talented photographer, and she shares her photos on social media, which range from styled shoots with friends to simple mirror selfies. (For real, how does she make mirror selfies look so cool?)

And it'd seem as though artistic talent runs in her family, with her grandmother Betty having an eye for painting. Ava shared a photo of her grandma's work on Instagram back in May 2016, showing off the artwork that Betty had done of Ava's dog, Pepper. "A lovely watercolor of pepper by one of my favorite renaissance women, grandma betty," Ava wrote in the caption.

Clearly, artistic ability is in Ava's blood!

Sit down, be humble

Despite Ava's clear passion for fashion and self-expression, she doesn't let others' opinions influence her own. Case in point: Rather than ask for a new, expensive vehicle after she got her license (which, let's be honest, most kids of wealthy parents request), Ava simply wanted a used car to ride around in. A used Volkswagen Jetta, to be specific (via Us Weekly). Seems like she values practicality over luxury.

"She's so down-to-earth," a source told Us Weekly about Ava. "Even the nanny has a Lexus to drive, but Ava desperately wants to be unassuming."

And while we can't know for sure if mom and dad paid for it (we bet they did), we wouldn't be shocked to hear that Ava herself at least partially contributed to the purchase — or, at least, pays for her own gas. Why do we think that, you ask? Well, Ava — like millions of teenagers around the world — got herself a part-time job, making some dough as a hostess at a Hollywood pizzeria in the summer of 2017 (via Personal Space).

Sounds like Ava has her priorities set straight.

She's BFFs with Elle Woods

In spite of their divorce in 2007, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, by all accounts, seem like they've done a great job raising their two children together — besides Ava, they also share son Deacon Reese Phillippe. And Ava appears to be close with both of her parents, especially her mother. Want more proof of their close bond other than Ava and her mom's red carpet moments and Instagram snaps? Well, here you go: For Ava's 18th birthday on Sept. 9, 2017, Witherspoon gifted her daughter with 18 letters that she'd written each year of Ava's life. And, as could be expected from receiving such a touching gift, Ava bawled her eyes out, which she admitted on Instagram.

And as "one of [Ava's] best friends," Witherspoon has continued to support her daughter throughout the years, praising her at every turn. "Your kindness, grace, intelligence and humor never cease to amaze me. I love you and your HUGE [heart]," she wrote in a post celebrating Ava's 18th birthday. "I feel so lucky that I get to be your mom."

Aww. These two are too cute. We want a bond like theirs!

Awkward encounters

Okay, so Ava has a pretty great relationship with her mom and dad, but that doesn't mean they aren't without their fair share of family problems. It can apparently be embarrassing to have Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe as parents because, well, they're both really good-looking.

In a 2015 interview with Variety, Ryan Phillippe revealed that, at age 40, he was still getting carded whenever he'd order a drink out. And, he said, his youthful appearance has sometimes annoyed Ava. "My daughter hates it, because sometimes people have thought I'm her brother, and she's freaked out by that," he told the publication.

It's awesome that Phillippe has barely aged and all, but we're with Ava on this one. It must be so awkward to have people think your parent is your sibling. But fortunately for her, with the way Ava's life is going, people might just start recognizing her in public more often, so hopefully that'll cut down on any weird social interactions.

Hi, society!

When she was 18 years old, Ava Phillippe decided to make her official coming out to high society by participating in a debutante ball. As reported by Page Six, Ava was one of 20 women who were part of the 25th annual Le Bal des Debutantes in Paris in 2017. While most girls her age worry more about choosing their senior prom dress, Ava clearly had been focusing on her debutante ball gown because she looked absolutely stunning. She wore a gold Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown and let her long blonde hair down, keeping her makeup simple.

As if wearing a fancy dress wasn't enough to make Ava's night complete, she was escorted by actual royalty — Maharaja Padmanabh Singh who belongs to the royal family of India's Jaipur state. Oh, and he's a professional athlete too, playing for the country's national polo team. Swoon.

And did we mention they waltzed to a song from La La Land? How romantic!

Famous friends

It's worth noting that Ava Phillippe isn't only known for her famous folks, winning good looks, and artistic style. Her name's likely also received a big boost in recognition due to some of her relationships — like her friendship with Girl Meets World star Rowan Blanchard, with whom she's posed for some fun photos on social media. As noted by Tiger Beat, Ava and the Disney Channel darling may have met through Ava's mom, as Blanchard and Witherspoon both worked on A Wrinkle in Time.

Whatever the case, Ava and Blanchard cemented their cool-girl friendship when they filmed a short video for InStyle at the magazine's 2018 Golden Globes after-party.

But Blanchard isn't the only celeb who's rubbed shoulders with Ava. Ava's also gotten close to Paul McCartney's — yes, that Paul McCartney — grandson, Arthur Donald. As Vanity Fair previously reported, the two were spotted on a possible date in London in March 2018. So, could Ava have started a romance with the grandchild of the legendary frontman of The Beatles? Well, it's possible, but we doubt the two will open up about their potential relationship anytime soon. Still, we can hope!
