The Truth About Jim Parsons' Husband Todd Spiewak

In April 2019, Jim Parsons took his final bow as Sheldon Cooper, saying goodbye to the character he had played for 12 years. From the moment Parsons accepted the life-changing role on The Big Bang Theory to the series finale, his now-husband, Todd Spiewak, stood by his side. In an act of art imitating life, the longtime lovers actually tied the knot just days after his character proposed to girlfriend Amy Farrah Fowler on the season ten finale of The Big Bang Theory. When Parsons and Spiewak said their "I dos" in May 2017, the couple had already been together for about 15 years. In a sweet Instagram post less than a year before their wedding, Parsons described Spiewak as "the best thing that ever happened to me, no contest." If Parsons' husband's name doesn't ring a bell, it's because he pretty much stays out of the limelight. However, that's not to say that he rides his husband's coattails. So who is the mystery man who managed to snag the richest guy on television?

Todd Spiewak is the reason Jim Parsons came to terms with his sexuality

When Todd Spiewak and Jim Parsons met in 2002, there was no doubt that they were completely right for each other. So right, in fact, that Parsons decided that it was time to come out to his family. "No offense to the lovely men I dated before Todd, but somewhere deep inside, I immediately knew that there was no choice left but to deal with this, because to not let them in on this person I had met was to officially start putting up these lifelong barriers," Parsons told Variety in a 2019 interview.

Although he came out to his family in 2002, it would be another decade before he came out to the world. In 2012, he came out publicly –  a year after he performed in the Broadway revival of The Normal Heart, a play about the rise of the HIV/AIDS crisis in New York City in the early '80s.

Todd Spiewak is pretty successful in his own right

Since he didn't grow up in the spotlight, not much is known about Todd Spiewak's life before he met Jim Parsons. However, we do know that he graduated from Boston University in 1999 with a BFA in graphic design. After graduation, the he moved to New York. According to Good Housekeeping, in November 2002 Spiewak was working in advertising as a graphic designer when his boss, along with one of Parsons' friends, orchestrated a blind date — and the rest was history. (Side note: Where do we find a boss that sets us up with television royalty? Asking for a friend.)

Over the years, Spiewak has put his degree to good use by heading up campaigns for high-level clients like American Express, Barnes & Noble, HP, and KitchenAid. Not to be left out of the world of Hollywood completely, Spiewak is credited as the executive producer of The Big Bang Theory spin-off, Young Sheldon, as well as several other projects that are in varying stages of production.

Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak aren't afraid to mix business and pleasure

Between the two of them, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak definitely know their way around a television set. That's why it's no surprise that they've combined their on/off screen knowledge to co-found their own production company, That's Wonderful Productions. They launched the company in 2015 and have been going strong ever since. In 2015, it was announced that the company would be developing Ryan O'Connell's book I'm Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves into a comedy series for Netflix.
