Alex Trebek's Wife Jean Opens Up About "Sound Healing" During His Cancer Battle

Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek has been keeping fans updated on his condition ever since he first revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer. And while fans of the long-running game show were shocked and saddened by the news — while also sending their support — Trebek's loved ones have been by his side throughout his health battle, including wife Jean Currivan Trebek.

While speaking with SurvivorNet in November 2019, Jean discussed how she handles difficult situations, such as the cancer diagnosis. "Just ask the universe, 'What's the next step for me?'" she said. "The universe will always respond. I am absolutely sure that we live in a benevolent universe that is always conspiring for our highest and greatest good."

Jean, who follows Religious Science, a faith-based movement that incorporates Reiki and sound healing, says that she's practiced her techniques on her husband. "It comes from a place of love, because I want to uplift him ... and when I keep my own self buoyed and enjoying my life, I can actually share that with him. He can look at me and have a sense of 'life is beautiful; my wife is doing something good."

Jean Currivan Trebek says sound healing is like "a lullaby"

While sound healing may not be familiar to some people, Jean Currivan Trebek was willing to open up about the practice to SurvivorNet, revealing how it can help others.

"The human voice has so much power and healing," Jean explained, saying that she uses her voice along with crystal bowls in her technique. It's something she's been doing for over a decade. "It's like how, when a mother sings a lullaby to her baby, it's the intention in her voice that is calming the baby. She's singing the words of love and beauty to this little baby, and the baby feels that in the vibration of her voice."

A licensed practitioner, Jean says that when she's working with someone who needs her help, she is able to provide them with "a power of presence; the eternal principle of life that is constant and changeless ... something that my client can rely upon."

And it's surely something husband Alex Trebek can also rely upon during this difficult time.
