The Reason Fans Are Angry About The Next Bachelorette

Alright, friends. Buckle up, because there's no end to the drama. Just as Peter Weber's epic Bachelor season is winding down, attention surrounding The Bachelorette is picking up. However, not necessarily good attention — Bachelor Nation is currently in a hot, fiery rage. Warning: Spoilers ahead for the recent Bachelor finale.

The reason for fans' fury is that a new Bachelorette, Clare Crawley, was already picked a week before Peter's finale aired. Meanwhile, Hannah Ann Sluss is getting dumped on national television without any consolation prize. It's typically tradition for the rejected runner-up to become the next Bachelor/Bachelorette. What the heck, ABC?!

Clare — who will be 39 during filming, as Newsweek pointed out — was announced as the new Bachelorette before fans even got to find out who Peter picked. Based on internet memes and Twitter roasts, a big complaint about Peter's season was that his contestants were so young, so that may be why they switched things up. Peter is only 28, while Hannah Ann is 23 as is Madison Prewett.

"Reality Steve" Carbone spoke to Page Six about the remarkable level of drama on Peter's season and Claire being the Bachelorette, saying, "I do think a lot of it had to do with the backlash they took this season from having so many young, catty women." Still, it's only fair to point out that Hannah Brown was 24 during her season of The Bachelorette, so age doesn't always matter.

Fans want justice for Hannah Ann

Following the finale, fans are drawing a comparison between Hannah Ann Sluss and Becca Kufrin from Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s Bachelor season, according to Newsweek. Arie dumped Becca for another contestant, but as a consolation, Becca became the next Bachelorette. So where's the justice for Hannah Ann? No one is mad about Clare Crawley as a person, just that the sequence of events doesn't exactly seem fair.

Perhaps Hannah Ann will have a more circuitous journey with Bachelor Nation? Maybe she'll hit up Bachelor in Paradise and later land her rightful spot as Bachelorette. It's entirely possible, since Clare had a similar journey. Per Page Six, Clare started out on the 2014 season of The Bachelor with Juan Pablo. She then had two back-to-back appearances on Bachelor in Paradise, and was on The Bachelor Winter Games in 2018.

Of all of the contestants on Peter Weber's season, only Kelsey Weier was considered for The Bachelorette, Newsweek reported. Other former contestants were apparently in the mix, including Tia Booth and Tayshia Adams, but their first choice was actually Hannah Brown. However, "they couldn't agree on money," per Reality Steve.

Regardless, fans may not be seeing the last of Hannah Ann. She was popular with fans and even Kim Kardashian West tweeted: "I love Hannah Ann!!!!" So Peter's jilted fiancé might get her season... just not yet. In the meantime, hopefully we'll get less drama and more commitment with Clare Crawley and her bevy of hunks.
