Trump Shoves Karoline Leavitt Into The Line Of Fire To Mask His Own Thin-Skinned Tantrum

After giving Kristi Noem the boot amid mounting pressure, and increasingly loud criticism, over her performance, it now appears Karoline Leavitt is next in line on President Donald Trump's breakup list. Lately, the divisive politician has been hinting that he isn't happy with how much negative press he's been getting. Trump seems to pin most of the blame for it on his White House press secretary. During a recent press briefing, the president had a full-blown meltdown over his plummeting approval ratings and took it out on Leavitt. "We have to straighten out our media [...] I got 93 percent bad publicity. Some people say 97, but between 93 and 97. A person that gets 97 of bad stories. Maybe Karoline is doing a poor job. I don't know. She's my rep," Trump stated.

"You're doing a terrible job," he admonished her, sneering, "Should we keep her? I think we'll keep her." You could feel the tension in the room. This latest jab came after Trump threw shade at Leavitt during a January 20, 2026 press conference while highlighting his accomplishments since resuming office. "We've had the best stock market in history, the best 401Ks in history. And we inherited a mess," the president bragged (via YouTube). Trump then gave Leavitt the Pam Bondi treatment with an icy insult: "Maybe I have bad public relations people, but we're not getting it across. We inherited high numbers, and we brought them way down."

Netizens had a field day. "Uh oh. Karolyin [sic], you in danger gurl," one X user warned. "Another one 'under' the bus," another wrote. "That woman lies through her teeth, eyes, ears, nostrils and other possible outlets for this moron! And she is somehow doing a bad job?" added a third.

Karoline Leavitt remains fiercely loyal to the president

Seemingly unfazed by her boss' scorching critique, Karoline Leavitt proved her undying loyalty to President Donald Trump by posting him to her Instagram Stories as if nothing happened. On April 1, 2026, shortly after he publicly threatened to fire her (a White House representative claimed the controversial leader was only kidding, but we all know a Trump tantrum when we see one), Leavitt uploaded a snapshot of her boss ahead of him addressing the nation to give an update on the Iran War. The White House staffer also shared a photo she took while watching Trump backstage in the Red Room. Way to stroke that fragile ego!

Before all of this drama went down, Trump seemed pleased with Leavitt's work. During a press gaggle in October 2025, the president lavished praise on his press secretary. "How's Karoline doing? Is she doing good? Should Karoline be replaced? It'll never happen," he promised (via X). "Those lips, they move like a machine gun, right?" It wasn't the first time he made a creepy comment about her lips — or should we say Leavitt's Kristi Noem-esque lip fillers? — either, telling Newsmax months prior, "She's become a star. It's that face, it's that brain, and it's those lips — the way they move. They move like she's a machine gun," (via Mediaite).

Clearly, Trump is panicking. Or as, netizens have suggested, maybe he's just furious Leavitt is expecting and wants to see her gone ASAP. But even those who aren't huge fans don't believe that the White House press secretary deserves to be humiliated and hung out to dry. As one X user reminded Trump, "@POTUS I have no love or respect for Leavitt, but you have '93%' bad publicity because YOU are doing a poor job."
