The Truth About Billie Eilish And Ariana Grande's Relationship

When singer Billie Eilish won album of the year at the 2020 Grammy Awards in January, rather than take the stage and launch into her speech, she immediately said that Ariana Grande should have won. Eilish, who won for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, accepted the award and said, "I think Ariana deserves this. Thank U, Next got me through some sh*t, and I think it deserves this more than anything in the world." Grande blew kisses back to Eilish from her seat in the audience and seemed happy to watch Eilish accept the award.

Eilish has been a fan of Grande's for years, as it turns out. This factoid came up during a May 9, 2020, episode of the Beats 1 radio show Eilish launched with her dad, Patrick O'Connell. While jamming out to Grande's music and discussing the pop singer, Eilish gushed (via Capital FM), "This is a classic y'all, come on, this is what pop should be, this is what I like about pop." She also said Grande is the "most talented f***ing b***h out there."

Eilish's dad chimed in to reminisce about the days before Eilish was a superstar and how she used to imitate Grande's singing style in her childhood bedroom. Probably the same bedroom that was covered in Justin Bieber posters, but we digress.

So is this friendship as sweet as it seems? Stick with us to find out.

Ariana Grande called Billie Eilish 'my sweet baby'

Billie Eilish, who was discovered on SoundCloud in 2015 before releasing her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, is well-loved right back by fellow Grammy winner Ariana Grande. When asked in November 2019 who she'd switch voices with if she could, Eilish offered up Grande's name as her answer. "Somebody with a really good voice, Ariana Grande's voice is f***ing crazy can you imagine opening your mouth and that comes out holy f**k," she reportedly said, according to Billboard. Talk about a high compliment!

Grande shared the interview clip on Twitter along with a reply to Eilish, writing "my sweet baby," which sent both singers' fans into a tizzy to support their friendship. And although these two hugely popular singers haven't collaborated yet, fans are hopeful that something might be coming down the pipeline sooner than later. Their song styles might be a bit different from each other — Eilish's tends to skew a bit darker than Grande's — but their powerful voices could easily come together on a song in the future. Grande's just coming off a huge collaboration with Lady Gaga, so why strike up a partnership with Eilish?

Until that day comes, fans will have to just bask in their adorable friendship.
