Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Jared Leto has spent his time much like the rest us. He's staying home, hosting a cinema club on his Twitter feed, and posting snapshots to his more than 10 million followers on Instagram — okay, so maybe not just like the rest of us. And while the Academy Award-winning actor found out about the virus a little later than most of the public, Leto has encouraged fans to stay safe at home.
It may seem like the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman is very transparent about his life, but Leto has kept his love life under wraps. At least, that was the case until June 2020 when Leto was spotted hiking with model Valery Kaufman, per People.
If Kaufman looks familiar, it's because the Russian beauty has appeared on high-profile catwalks and magazine covers throughout her modeling career. Kaufman graced the cover of Elle Russia in January 2020, and has modeled for Tom Ford, Max Mara and Elie Saab to name a few. Under the achievements section of her Models.com page, it's noted that Kaufman is one of the top 50 models in the industry. In 2015 and 2016, Kaufman joined the likes of Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
Jared Leto and Valery Kaufman have been 'off and on' for years
Jared Leto and model Valery Kaufman, who have a 22-year age difference between them, have been snapped together here and there over the years. That being said, their outings have only been documented a few times.
The two were first linked back in in 2015, according to People. In late May 2015, Leto and Kaufman were spotted buying groceries and picking up takeout in New York City while Leto was taking a break from shooting Suicide Squad. Leto, who played The Joker in the film, was sporting the signature green hair for the role. In the same week, the two were also seen riding bicycles through Central Park.
Leto and Kaufman reportedly started off as friends, per People. "They would meet up with groups of people and all hangout. They didn't go on solo dates," the source said. Things have since turned romantic. "They have been off and on now for a few years, but seem to spend more time together lately."
According to the outlet, Leto introduced the model to his mother, Constance Leto, in 2020. Leto has been previously linked to Cameron Diaz and Ashley Olsen.
Leto and Kaufman are active on Instagram, with the actor sharing candids like his cosplay as Joe Exotic from Tiger King and the model uploading her latest editorial shoots. However, one thing the two will most likely not share is a photo of themselves together.
