Salty? Aaron Rodgers Goes Scorched-Earth On His Exes While Shailene Woodley Stays Thriving

Aaron Rodgers recently made some bold claims about his exes. Appearing on the "Not Just Football" podcast on September 10, Rodgers went on the offensive as he divulged details about his dating past. "The height of their fame was when they were with me. They get clicks when they say my name," the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback said. Speaking about his time with Danica Patrick, Rogers revealed why he had difficulties. "She had just retired. She was depressed and not fun to be around, but I didn't leave her because I was trying to be there and be a good partner," he said. That reveal was tame compared to his claims about Woodley.

According to Rodgers, the former couple had issues shortly after he popped the question. "I date Shailene, I propose, and she says yes," he said. "But not a couple of days after that, she tells me before we get married, like, 'I got to go f*** this guy,'" Rodgers said. The couple were engaged in December 2020, but had issues only months later. He claimed that the "Divergent" star "took off the ring by March" in 2021. Rodgers added that it was Woodley who ultimately broke off the engagement.

It was peculiar timing for Rodgers to go scorched-earth on his ex-fiancée, as just days earlier Woodley served one of her best red carpet looks in years while receiving her first Emmy. The award was for Woodley's portrayal as Annie on the Hulu series "Paradise," and she looked stunning in a white minidress for the occasion. Previously, Woodley had admitted there were red flags in her relationship with Rodgers.

Shailene Woodley went public with her engagement to Aaron Rodgers during an appearance on "The Tonight Show" in February 2021, even though he had popped the question a couple months earlier. A year later, the couple had split. At the time, an insider provided info on what Woodley blamed for the split. "While Shailene is supportive of Aaron's career, he put football first and they were barely spending any time together," a source told InTouch in February 2022. "She felt he neglected their relationship. Neither of them was happy," they added.

Speaking to Outside in February 2024, Woodley painted a drab picture of her personal life while she was romantically-involved with Rodgers. "I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy," she told the publication about that period. "That was the lowest low of my life," Woodley added. Recollecting on her time with Rodgers made "The Descendants" star emotional during the interview. "I haven't shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it ... always makes me cry," she said, as the interviewer noted Woodley had welled up. Not everything she took away from being with Rodgers was negative. "It was not right. But it was beautiful," Woodley added.

Earlier that year, Woodley spoke about how she had changed her outlook on relationships. "Just a broken heart. A broken heart that healed and broke again. I fell in love over and over with unavailability," she told Bustle in September 2024, without specifically naming Rodgers.
