It may feel like five minutes ago, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been parents for quite a while now. Prince Archie was born on May 6, 2019, which means more than half of his childhood has gone by, as crazy as that is. And his height serves as pretty poignant evidence of it. While signs suggest Harry doesn't like to share his kids on social media, he has seemingly reached a compromise, as Meghan often shares glimpses of Archie and Princess Lilibet on Instagram. And those snippets show that Archie had nearly reached his mother's shoulders by his seventh birthday.
In May 2026, the Duchess of Sussex shared family pictures at Disneyland, a trip they took to jointly celebrate the birthdays of Archie and Lilibet, who turned 5 that June. In one pic, the camera captured all four walking side by side from behind, showing that Archie was just a head short of reaching Meghan's height and not too far from reaching Harry's shoulders. At the time of this writing, a full seven years have passed, and Archie is far from the tiny newborn he was, as seen in the picture on the left from July 2019, when he was 2 months old.
Born at 7 pounds, 3 ounces, Archie wasn't a particularly big baby. But genetics suggest he won't be short. At 5 feet, 5 inches, Meghan is above the average height of 5 feet, 3 inches for women in both the U.S. and the U.K. Harry, for his part, is 6 feet, 2 inches, and comes from a family of tall men. As time will surely fly by, we're sure we'll see how tall Archie ends up being soon enough.
Prince Archie is a full-blown child with lots of hobbies
Prince Archie hasn't just grown in height. Between 2019 and 2026, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's eldest has become a full-blown child with different interests. Upon his return to the U.K. in August 2026, Archie started second grade — or Year Three in the local terminology — and has apparently maintained at least some of his hobbies in his new home. In a September 2026 Instagram video, Meghan showed Archie fishing alongside Harry and Princess Lilibet (seen above), a hobby he has seemingly had for quite some time.
In his 2023 memoir "Spare," Harry — a fishing enthusiast himself — alluded to the practice while describing a moment when a hummingbird flew into his California kitchen. "For half a second I was tempted to let the hummingbird be. Let it stay. But no. Gently I used Archie's fishing net to scoop it from the ceiling, carry it outside," he wrote (via Hello!). Beyond the family tradition, Archie also enjoys Legos. "My son, Archie, [is obsessed] — and he's a master builder," Harry told a 7-year-old during a July 2026 visit to Birmingham Children's Hospital (via People). However, Harry once said that Archie would like to be a pilot when he grows up.
Archie also stayed interested in the main sport of his homeland, despite growing up in California. In 2025, he was seen wearing the bright red uniform of the GB Soccer School in the Los Angeles area, a sport he has also been seen playing at home with his dad. Similarly, Harry instilled in his son a love of surfing and skiing, two activities that will be a tad harder to maintain in the British countryside than in California. But it's nothing a family trip can't fix.
