The Estate War She Never Wanted: Dolly Parton's Nephew Now Faces A Legal Crisis

In a truly heartbreaking fallout that would surely devastate the country star herself, Dolly Parton's nephew Bryan Seaver has found himself in the middle of a legal battle with the late singer's LLC. That would be tough in any situation, but it's especially sad considering that Parton previously discussed tying up all of her loose ends to avoid this happening. There's major drama with Parton's estate, and Seaver, who served as his aunt's head of security for over 20 years, has been abruptly fired in the wake of her passing. That was a shock in itself, given it was Seaver who announced the Grammy winner's death in the first place, in a video posted on Instagram. 

Seaver also vowed to protect his beloved late aunt's legacy, but a lawsuit filed by She's Alive, LLC, attests that he's threatened to do the exact opposite in order to: "Extract money from SAL and trusts." As reported by ABC 7 Eyewitness News, one of those threats included a message sent by Seaver warning, "I'm going to set up a podcast dedicated to ruining Dolly's brand partnerships and telling the violations these people have done on us. It's going to be great. Or f***ing pay me." Seaver also allegedly made Parton's longtime manager Danny Nozell and other SAL staffers feel unsafe by repeatedly mentioning his background as an arms dealer and military contractor. 

This allegedly "had a chilling effect on personnel and business associates, who reasonably understand them as threats of real-world violence." Seaver has denied any wrongdoing, but a restraining order barring him from contacting or coming within 1,000 feet of anyone aligned with SAL has been granted. It's a tragic situation, one Dolly notably tried to avoid. 

It's no secret that Dolly Parton didn't want her family to fight over her massive fortune. The singer and her longtime manager Danny Nozell even spoke about drafting her will during a 2020 chat with Billboard. They spent years deciding what would happen to Dolly's huge net worth, with the country star admitting, "I would not want to leave that mess to somebody else." She went on to add, "A word to all the other artists out there: If you haven't made those provisions, do that. You don't want to leave that mess to your family for people to have to fight over. You need to take care of that yourself, even if it's a pain in the a** — and it is." 

For what it's worth, the "Jolene" hitmaker's family has publicly supported Bryan Seaver. In fact, his aunt, Freida Parton, took to Facebook to share a statement, clarifying, "There is no feud within our family. No one among the Parton/Owens family is fighting over Dolly's estate. We all love Bryan, just as we love each other." As for Seaver himself, he told ABC News there was no truth to the shocking claims. Specifically when it came to the alleged threats, he made it clear, "I've never threatened anyone [...] They are my friends and my brothers and colleagues." 

Seaver also addressed claims he'd branded himself a "killer," explaining it was an inside joke with Dolly: "I was her 'Baby boy ninja' and Danny Nozell took that text out of context to somehow imagine that I was threatening him." The singer-songwriter's longtime security detail also pointed out that Nozell had dubbed him "The Killer" himself in the past. Here's hoping this can be resolved sooner rather than later.
