The Real Reason Jay Cutler Deleted His Instagram

It looks like Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari's ongoing divorce just got a little more interesting. Just hours after his estranged wife posted a photo on Instagram snuggling up to former beau Stephen Colletti, the former pro football player seemingly deleted his Instagram account. But is it a coincidence?

In case you missed it, Cavallari sent Laguna Beach fans into a frenzy when she revealed she reunited with her MTV co-star on Aug. 4, 2020. In the photo — which she captioned: "2004 or 2020?!" — the reality star is sitting on her high school boyfriend's lap. According to a People source, the former flames had met up for dinner.

Shortly after the photo broke the internet, fans were quick to notice that Cutler went MIA with his account, @ifjayhadinstagram, showing up as unavailable on Instagram. At the time of this writing, his Instagram account still "isn't available" and all his content is gone. Now, it seems Cavallari's reunion may have had something to do with Cutler's sudden disappearance with sources saying he was getting some negative attention as a result of the now-viral post.

Jay Cutler's social media disappearance might have something to do with Stephen Colletti

According to E! News, the real reason Jay Cutler deleted his Instagram account was, in fact, because of the photo of Kristin Cavallari's reunion with her Laguna Beach co-star, Stephen Colletti. "In the wake of the photo, Jay was getting a lot of heat on social media," a source explained. "He was over it and deleted his account." Though it's unclear what kind of messages he was receiving, it was obviously enough to push him off the social media app.

His apparent social media break comes almost four months after he and Cavallari announced their divorce. In April 2020, the couple — who had been together for 10 years and share three children — shared a joint statement via Instagram, explaining their decision was the result "of two people growing apart" and that they had "nothing but love and respect for one another." After his split from Cavallari, Cutler, who rarely ever shared photos or videos on his Instagram account, started posting a bit more frequently.

Us Weekly reports that he wished his ex a happy Mother's Day in May 2020, in addition to documenting his hunt for a "chicken serial killer" in his Tennessee backyard in June 2020, which is why his sudden disappearance came as a shock to fans who grew to love his unique content.

So will Cutler be back? It's unclear right now, but he may reactivate his account after the Cavallari/Colletti reunion news dies down.
