Signs Khloe Kardashian And Tristan Thompson Might Get Back Together
Rumors about Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson reuniting as a couple have swirled on and off since their public and messy breakup in February 2019. To recap: The split went down after Thompson was allegedly caught cheating with multiple women and had a supposedly inappropriate interaction with Jordyn Woods (she's Kylie Jenner's ex-best friend for a reason).
Since then, Khloe has been focused on the couple's daughter, True, and is working on building her businesses and brand, among other things. She has been sharing her progress periodically on her social media, giving fans glimpses of her life surrounded by friends, family, and beautiful destinations.
The celeb has also discussed the complexities of her relationship with Tristan, now that it's over. She admitted to being hurt by the NBA star, at times defending their relationship, and at other times expressing how upset and torn she was about his alleged behavior with Jordyn. She described his supposed actions as "disgusting," and said in a June 2019 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, "literally, my heart is in my eyeballs," per ET Online.
But as rumors surface again of their potential involvement — as friends? lovers? co-parents? — so has Khloe's insistence that the two are nothing more than co-parents. So, let's dig a bit deeper into the rumors and why we might think the exes are back on the road to romance.
Tristan Thompson showers Khloe Kardashian with gifts
Despite Tristan Thompson's alleged inappropriate behavior, he has reportedly tried to win Khloe Kardashian back multiple times, and seemingly regrets his mistakes. A source close to the matter told E! News that Thompson "would love to get back with" Kardashian, and that he has been showering his ex and their daughter with gifts. According to another E! News report, Thompson gifted the Good American co-founder with a surprise diamond necklace and a promise ring for her 35th birthday in June 2019.
Did it work? That's TBD, but Khloe did acknowledge Thompson's efforts. "Tristan is really trying to show that he's sorry on a daily basis whether that be a nice gift, a text," she said during a December 2019 episode of KUWTK, per Refinery29. "I do appreciate that because I know that he's trying, so I think we're slowly moving into the right direction of being friends as well as excellent co-parents." But still, she hinted that they wouldn't be anything more than parents to their daughter, at best.
"I want us to have a healthy, kind and, yes, a loving relationship where True can see her mom and dad hug each other when we see each other," she explained.
Tristan Thompson is not shy about his feelings
Although Tristan Thompson's actions may speak louder than his words, his sweet nothings aren't going unnoticed, either. Thompson has openly engaged with Khloe Kardashian in the comments section of her Instagram (who knows what her DMs look like?), and, in response to a May 2020 photo she posted on the 'gram showing off her new cut and color, Thompson commented that he thought she was a "baddie," per Cosmopolitan. Adding a red heart to his note, he also said he's "all for the caption," referring to Kardashian's snarky words that accompanied the photo — "Location: under b****es skiiiinnnnn."
That wasn't the only time the basketball player has left a trail of flirty comments underneath Khloe's (sometimes sexy) photos. Reacting to a photo Khloe posted in March 2020 of herself in an undergarment set, Thompson called her "saucy" and left a string of emojis, including one suggesting he was drooling over her. And back in November 2019, the Cleveland Cavaliers star commented enthusiastically, "WOW," and added that he thought she was "perfection" in a bodysuit.
And during one of Kardashian's more triumphant moments, when she won a 2019 People's Choice Award, Thompson was there to support her. He paid tribute on Instagram to her win, adding that he was "so proud" of "Momma Koko." He said, "...You challenge people to fight for a better YOU."
Has Tristan Thompson's charm worked on Khloe Kardashian?
There are conflicting reports about whether Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson ware back together. In May 2020, for instance, a source told E! News, "They have a great co-parenting relationship right now and that's it."
Despite these reports, there is speculation that Khloe might want to rekindle a romance with her ex. According to In Touch Weekly, the KUWTK star reportedly "really believes" that Thompson has changed. An insider told the publication that the two "have been trying to work their [differences] out for a while now." They added, "Khloé was really worried about going public though because of the backlash it would create and she didn't want to hear everyone's opinions."
Evidence supporting this report is a June 2020 video posted by TMZ, which shows Thompson and Khloe at a friend's birthday party. The athlete appears to have his arm snug around Kardashian's waist, and they seem to be enjoying their evening together.
It's possible the supposed rekindling happened due to the pair quarantining together during the coronavirus pandemic. "She loves having him around," a source told People in August 2020. "He has the best relationship with True. And he has been amazing to Khloé too. They are very much together and Khloé is beyond happy."
However, this could change when Thompson returns to basketball, an insider noted. "Tristan's traveling was always a concern," they said. "This is when he would mess up their relationship."
