The Huge Record Miranda Lambert Broke At The ACM Awards

Miranda Lambert has had an impressive career in country music, but it wasn't always easy. She started performing as a teenager in small venues in Texas, where she grew up, and ended up competing on Nashville Star in 2003. She didn't win, but her third place finish helped her land a record deal with Epic. Lambert has continued to release music, sell out shows, and win awards ever since, and she even holds an impressive Academy of Country Music Awards record: She is the winningest country musician in the show's history.

According to The Boot, Lambert broke the record at the 2019 show when she smashed Brooks and Dunn's previous record of 29 awards. By the end of the show, she had 32 wins and the top spot.

During the 2020 ACM Awards, Lambert continued to add to her total. During a pre-award-show announcement, Lambert won the award for music event of the year for her cover collaboration, "Fooled Around and Fell In Love," with Caylee Hammack, Elle King, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, and Tenille Townes. On the live broadcast of the show on Sept. 16, 2020, host Keith Urban reminded Lambert — and viewers — that she remains the country musician with the most wins.

Reigning supreme over the Academy of Country Music Awards isn't Miranda Lambert's only huge award show record. When it comes to the Country Music Association Awards (the other massive award show in country music), she has earned a lifetime total of 55 nominations — the most of any female country artist. The record for overall nominations is held by George Strait, who's been nominated 89 times in his career, according to Taste of Country. Lambert is nipping at his heels (or boots) and has plenty of time left in her career to beat that record and keep adding to her CMA trophies. (She has 13 to date, by the way.)

Lambert is truly a force to be reckoned with in country music. In fact, she's been nominated for three ACM Awards in 2020: best female artist; best album; and music event of the year. In addition to her more than 30 ACM Awards and 13 CMA Awards, she also has two Grammy Awards, seven CMT Music Awards, and more.

We can't help but wonder how everyone at Nashville Star is feeling these days about giving her third place way back when.
