Inside Scheana Shay's Feud With Lala Kent
When Lala Kent joined Vanderpump Rules during Season 4, she didn't receive the warmest welcome due, in part, to her Instagram photos and a fib about a "modeling" gig in Italy. Eventually, Scheana Shay embraced Lala and sided with her against others. However, after Lala became friends with other women on the show, Scheana and Lala's friendship faltered.
During the Season 8 reunion, which aired in June 2020, Lala apologized for slamming Scheana as "a 34-year-old woman in a crop top and a, you know, sl**ty JoJo Siwa pony doing the same thing over and over again." It seemed like the two of them wanted to repair their fractured friendship. Apparently, that ship has sailed, and they are not friends (for now, anyway).
On Sept. 25, 2020, Scheana did a question and answer session on her podcast, Scheananigans With Scheana Shay. One topic that "came up a lot" from her listeners was about Scheana's absence at Lala and Randall Emmett's gender reveal, which took place on Sept. 19, 2020, according to Us Weekly. Scheana revealed "We weren't invited." Scheana said that the exclusion "stat[ed] pretty clear where [their] friendship stands." She also admitted that the two of them "haven't really talked" recently.
Scheana also shared that her mother, Erika van Olphen, reached out to the Vanderpump Rules women about Scheana's miscarriage before it became public. Lala — who was in Palm Springs just like Scheana — said she'd be there if Scheana needed anything. According to Scheana, Lala didn't come through, but Lala did clap back. Hard.
Scheana Shay says Lala Kent ditched her for Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly
On a September 2020 episode of her podcast, Scheana Shay said she had a "full panic attack" when boyfriend Brock Davies went golfing at some point following her miscarriage. She recalled, "I'm like, I don't know anyone in Palm Springs and my mom was, like 'Well, why don't you call Lala?'" Scheana shared, "I was like, 'You know what? Actually, yeah, like, this could be a turning point in our friendship. She'll be here for me at my lowest of low and ... we'll get back on track.'"
She mentioned Lala's reunion apology, remarking, "I thought at the time that was very genuine." Scheana said, "It was frustrating because [Lala] hears the terror and panic in my voice. I'm literally, like, 'He's golfing!' ... I was screaming at the top of my lungs," admitting that she was "devastated." Scheana said that she told Lala, "I don't like being alone so can you please come over?'"
As it turns out, Lala already had dinner plans with Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, who met filming a movie that Lala's fiancé, Randall Emmett, directed. Scheana says Lala invited her to the dinner, but she declined because she was having a panic attack. Scheana recounted, "She literally said to my mom, 'If she needs anything at all, I will be there." Scheana concluded, "I needed her and she wasn't there because she had dinner with celebrities. Let's be real." However, Lala had a very different take on the situation.
Lala Kent slammed Scheana for 'capitalizing off' John Mayer hookup
After Scheana Shay called out Lala Kent for allegedly ditching her following her miscarriage, Lala addressed Scheana's claims in an Instagram Story. Lala wrote (via US Weekly), "Anybody wondering my thoughts on @scheana 'dragging' me," she began, "1. I'm not trippin too hard. In her mind that's how it happened. She would rather focus on me 'not being there for her' than the fact her man said he was working, turned his phone off and went golfing that day. Weird how that was just glazed over."
"This is why her relationships are always a trainwreck that make epic TV. She makes reality TV gold," the Give Them Lala Beauty mogul declared, but she wasn't done. "2. She claims I chose celebrity over her. Girl, weren't you just capitalizing off banging John Mayer 100 years ago?" In August 2020, Scheana said she was in a "throuple" with the singer and Stacie Adams from The Hills in 2008.
As for the third item on her list of grievances, Lala said, "She has a way of making everything about her. I've accepted that about her and found the endearing parts of it."
Lala Kent and Scheana Shay unfollowed each other
"She has an idea of how everyone should react in certain situations. We usually always fail and she is left disappointed. This is why she has a new best friend every day. We can't keep up," Lala Kent wrote in an Instagram Story when she clapped back at Scheana Shay in September 2020 (via Us Weekly).
The Vanderpump Rules star concluded, "I can't believe I just gave that much time to this s**t when we aren't even filming and I'm not getting paid. Smh." However, that wasn't really the end. Both Scheana and Lala attended Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor's gender reveal in late September 2020. Unfortunately, the event was not filmed for Vanderpump Rules, which may or may not return for Season 9.
Soon after Jax and Brittany's gender reveal, Us Weekly reported that Lala and Stassi Schroeder both unfollowed Scheana on Instagram and she returned the favor, which is probably not a coincidence. Will this feud be a plot line when/if Vanderpump Rules returns for another season? Only time will tell.
