The Real Reason Steven And Olga From 90 Day Fiance Are Calling It Quits
90 Day Fiancé is full of twists, turns, and surprise endings that fans love. Considering that the show is about people who don't know each other well before getting married, the televised romances usually end in an inevitable breakup.
The real lifeblood of the show, though, is all the fights and awkward moments that happen along the way. Someone's family hates their fiance; someone cheats, someone gets arrested, someone is conning someone else...you get the idea. One of the more shocking moments happened in 2017 when Russian born Olga Koshimbetova announced that she was expecting a child with Steven Frend, her U.S. based boyfriend of a few months. The couple's young age raised some eyebrows too. It all started in 2017, when Olga, who was just 18, met Steven, himself only 20, while on vacation with her family in the U.S. The two had a short and fiery romance that ended in a surprise pregnancy a few weeks later, per Screen Rant.
That's where Season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé picked up the story. A pregnant Olga was stuck in Russia waiting to deliver a baby and get a visa, with Steven living in the country for a short period so he could witness his son's birth. The little family eventually made to the States, and Olga and Steven married, but the marital bliss was short-lived — we spill the beans on what really went down.
Steven and Olga rushed into things
After a whirlwind romance, Steven Frend and Olga Koshimbetova broke up for good in fall 2020. They share one son, Richie, and had only been married for a little over a year when the news broke. "We went into this super blindly," Steven explained, via a since-deleted Instagram story, Us Weekly reported. "There's a lot the show left out that'll have people confused but we have learned a lot about each other over this whole journey but we're better at being coparents to our boy. We're both civil and cause no drama because our son's mental health is [our] top priority." The breakup wasn't a total surprise to fans. Olga and Steven lived in his native Maryland since Olga arrived in the States, but in September 2020, Olga traveled to California alone, causing fans to speculate they'd split up.
Olga addressed the rumors, writing in a since-deleted Instagram Story (via Us Weekly), "For those who didn't know, I have a family [in California]. I planned to visit them in August but then wildfires happened and I canceled my trip. But after a few weeks my uncle invited me again." She added, "It was a good idea to go alone without Steven, because we finally started to miss each other."
Steven announced the split a month later, so maybe the distance backfired in the end. As for Olga, she has since returned to the east coast, and she revealed via Instagram that she has a job. All's well that ends well!
