Sarah Hyland Says This Will Be The Highlight Of The CMT Music Awards

Sarah Hyland has dropped some hints about what viewers should expect ahead of the 2020 CMT Music Awards on Oct. 21. The Modern Family alum, who will host the show with Kane Brown and Ashley McBryde, told People on Oct. 20, 2020, that fans will be impressed with the performances throughout the night. "The performances are going to be the highlight of this show," she teased. "There will be so many performers and fans can expect truly epic outdoor performances all over Tennessee."

The CMT Music Awards are not typically "all over Tennessee," but the coronavirus pandemic has pushed the entertainment industry to be crafty. Instead of taking place at Bridgestone Arena per usual, the show will get broadcasted from several spots throughout Tennessee: Ruskin Cave in Dickson County, Sycamore Farms in Arrington, and the Estate at Cherokee Dock, a Wilson County estate which served as Reba McEntire's former home, as noted by The Tennessean.

But wait — that's not all Hyland teased about the show. Keep reading to find out what else the CMTs has in store for viewers.

Sarah Hyland teases an exciting event lineup

In addition to the location changes, Sarah Hyland touted the "stacked" event lineup to People, adding, "I feel like [we] haven't seen a lot of music recently, so it's nice to be able to have something like this." Some of the country superstars slated to perform are Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Maren Morris, and Shania Twain, who has not headlined an award show since 2011, per Rolling Stone.

Of course, the CMTs had to implement many coronavirus alterations for the incredible show to move forward. First, the show is taking place months after its normal airtime. The CMT Music Awards' original air date was June 3, 2020, which got pushed back due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the damage caused by a deadly tornado that hit Nashville in March 2020, as Deadline reported. Most of the fan-voted show will be pre-taped, although according to The Boot, the three hosts will be live. Sarah Hyland will film her parts separately from her co-hosts, as she is immunocompromised with kidney dysplasiaPeople noted. Country Music Television also announced the creation of two new categories, one of which is "Quarantine Video of the Year," an award that highlights videos made during the coronavirus pandemic.

Addressing the changes, Hyland is positive the 2020 CMT Music Awards will not disappoint. "Yes, it will be a bit different, but everybody's been working really, really hard to make it the best show that it can see," she told People. "Virtually, non-virtually and I think it's gonna be a really, really great and fun show."
