Some RHOP Fans Have A Serious Problem With Wendy Osefo
The consensus among Bravo fans is that The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5 is a televisual masterpiece, and newcomer Wendy Osefo is one of the reasons why. Although the majority of the drama is centered around Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard's fight in a wine barn, some fans are transfixed by Dr. Wendy. While Osefo has quickly grown on some fans, others are already done with her and what they view as hypocritical or snobby ways.
Wendy is a Nigerian-American professor and television personality, per Bravo. She also has a slew of degrees that she drops into conversations on the reg: a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University, a Master of Arts degree from The Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Science degree from Rutgers University, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Rutgers University, "where she made history by becoming the first black woman to earn a Ph.D. in Public Affairs/Community Development," per her Bravo bio. She is married to attorney Eddie Osefo, and they have three kids together, including baby Kamrynn, whose "Sip and See" became a point of contention in a mid-season episode.

Dr. Wendy isn't all that perfect on The Real Housewives of Potomac
Most of the women on The Real Housewives of Potomac took to Wendy Osefo right away, except for the Grande Dame herself, Karen Huger, who wasn't impressed with Wendy's degrees, career, or her women empowerment initiatives. According to some fans, Huger might have been onto something.
Throughout Season 5 of RHOP, viewers learned that Wendy and her husband, Eddie Osefo, are estranged from his Nigerian family due to a blowout between her and his mother. Eddie's family didn't attend his wedding to Wendy, supposedly claiming that Wendy's family was from a "cursed tribe" and that her mother was the chieftain of "the lowest caste" and therefore, they had to shun him, according to Showbiz Cheat Sheet. Wendy has apparently stood by her husband's side and "wiped his tears" as year after year passes without his family meeting their children, per Screenrant. Eddie's family was reportedly invited to the aforementioned "Sip and See," but did not show.
Guess who wasn't invited to the "Sip and See" party, though? Fellow castmember Monique Samuels, who is on the outs from the group after getting into a physical altercation with Candiace Dillard. Wendy was one of the first of the women to distance herself from Samuels after the event, and that's one of the reasons that critics have a lot to say about this reality TV rookie.
Some RHOP fans are fed up with Wendy Osefo
Newcomer Wendy Osefo has a ton of new fans, but some The Real Housewives of Potomac fans just aren't that into her. One person wrote of Wendy's treatment of costar Monique Samuels: "I hate ppl who pick and choose when to "empower women." Another echoed the sentiment, saying: "Wendy: "I'm all for empowering women" Also Wendy: Let's exclude another Black woman and not extend grace for being a flawed human being and making a mistake."
Vulture writer Chris Murphy agrees that Osefo and castmate Candiace Dillard's attitude towards Samuels is unfair, writing, "I also think the respectability politics of it all, with certain Housewives trying to shame Monique for setting a bad example for Black women writ large, is a bunch of b.s. Monique is not a representative for all Black women nor is she expected to be."
But that's not the only reason some fans have had it with Osefo. Many feel like she's also judging husband Eddie Osefo's family. "I hate how Wendy acts like her side of the family is so perfect and Nigerian, and her husband's family is not," one viewer tweeted. Many others shared on social media that they felt the same way, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. One could argue that the marking of a great Housewife is how much they can divide the fan base, so in this way, Wendy is still a winner.
