The Lips' Big Reveal Wasn't A Surprise To The Masked Singer Fans

Group C took the stage for the first time on the Oct. 28, 2020 episode of The Masked Singer, and totally wowed — and stumped — the judges. The night saw singers dressed up as a Squiggly Monster, Mushroom, Jellyfish, Broccoli, and Lips. Masked singer after masked singer took the stage, which has already seen so many impressive performances this season alone. What the FOX show has also seen this season is some unbelievable unmaskings — including Mickey Rourke, who was dressed as Gremlin, taking himself out of the competition after one performance because he felt done.

On the Oct. 28 show, a singer was unmasked as usual, and this time it was Lips. Her clue package included a reference to "speaking my truths," a graphic of West Wing Snack Bar, and a jersey with the number 12 on it. She came out singing "Native New Yorker" by Odyssey. While perched on her bench, she dove right in, and Twitter immediately identified her recognizable voice, as did a couple of the judges.

Twitter immediately knew that Wendy Williams was Lips

As soon as Lips started to sing, the Twitterverse immediately started typing furiously and every tweet read the same name: Wendy Williams. They quickly recognized her voice — probably because she wasn't singing so much as talking in rhythm. For a talk show host who relies on her voice day in and day out to connect with her audience, it's no surprise that her fans picked up on it immediately. The "speaking my truths" clue also makes a lot of sense, because Williams is not one to hold back or mince words!

Judge Jenny McCarthy knew right away, too, that it was Williams, locking in her guess. Fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger eventually locked it in as her guess, too, and both were correct when Lips was named the contestant who would be unmasked. She also noted that the jersey in the clue package featured the number 12, which signified the 12th season of her show that's currently airing.

After taking off her mask, she told host Nick Cannon that she knew her costume was fabulous. She added, "I can't sing, I can't dance, but I know how to have fun." And she clearly did have fun! But alas, her stint on The Masked Singer is now over.
