Counting On star Jed Duggar has been a fixture in the news since launching his bid for the Arkansas State House of Representatives on Nov. 3, 2019. He announced his run for office in an Instagram video. "I will unequivocally advocate for conservative values. I am a Christian and I will stand up for religious liberty, I am pro-life and I will be an advocate for the unborn, and I will always defend our Second Amendment," Duggar said in the video. "With your support, I will be a strong, conservative voice in Little Rock for District 89."
According to Talk Business, Jed, who was 20 at the time, previously worked as a campaign manager for Arkansas State Senator Bob Ballinger in 2018 and as a legislative assistant at the Arkansas State Capitol in 2017. Jed had a rough go of it, as constituents viewed him as "childish" for distributing leaflets calling Godfrey a "liberal princess," The Sun reported. The outlet also noted that he allegedly accepted an $8,400 donation from retired banker Ross Little in Louisiana, which would break Arkansas' single donor contribution maximum of $2,400.
Jed was defeated by incumbent Democrat Megan Godfrey, who attracted 56 percent of the vote in seeking her second term, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. Meanwhile, Jim Bob and Michelle Dugger's 10th child brought in 44 percent of the vote. With Jed Duggar licking his political wounds, he might be receiving some comfort from a lady-friend.
