The excitement around the post stems from the fact that the former One Direction member hasn't been active on social media for quite some time, reports E! News. Malik's last Instagram post was in October of 2020, where the artist could be seen singing cover songs in two black and white videos appropriately captioned, "Cover Sessions."
While fans may be missing Malik from the Instagram world, the singer does have good reason to be M.I.A.; In September of 2020, the "PILLOWTALK" artist welcomed his first child with girlfriend Gigi Hadid. The baby girl has yet to be shared with social media, but both Malik and Hadid have publicly expressed their love for their newborn in sweet photos of their newborn's hand and head.

After a mini social media hiatus, Zayn Malik took to his Instagram story to share a photo of a theatre stage, according to E! News. With no caption, no music and basically zero explanation behind the photo, fans started to speculate whether the mysterious image had anything to do with upcoming music. "Zayn malik back on stage it's over for everyone else now," tweeted a fan.
Malik's last solo music release was in 2018 with the album Icarus Falls. The album peaked at No. 61 on the Billboard 200, a fall from his 2016 album Mind of Mine that reached the top spot on the chart Since then, the artist hasn't released any solo projects, but is featured on Proof Db's album Gold Pharoah which released in December 2020 (though Malik has hardly talked about it). The house album was a slight departure for Malik, who went from his pop One Direction days to pop/R&B once breaking from the boy band.
