What Caroline Manzo's Relationship With Her Sister Dina Is Like Today
Fans of the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" know all about Caroline Manzo and her tumultuous relationship with her sister Dina. The siblings starred on the reality show together during Seasons 1 and 2, but since they graced the small screen, things haven't been the same between the two.
"I think we all changed," Dina said on SiriusXM's "Jeff Lewis Live" (via The Daily Dish) in 2018. "It was when I didn't recognize who she was anymore that I said, 'I'm out.'" She continued to explain how fame impacted their relationship, stating, "And then the television thing [factored in] after I watched Season 1. I was saying very nice things about them and watching back, they weren't doing the same for me. So I was like, 'What the f***?' Is there envy going on here? They don't want me to look good?' I don't know, but it freaked me out."
Around the same time, Dina said that she and her sister don't keep in touch. "Caroline does not speak to me at all ... we haven't spoken in two years," she told Jeff Lewis (via People). "People become [caricatures] of themselves. A little part of what people say that they liked, they tend to put it on." However, it seemed like Dina may hope to one day reconcile. Dina and Caroline Manzo may still have beef
Sadly, it seems like Dina and Caroline Manzo may still be at odds. Just one year after Dina gave Jeff Lewis an update on her relationship with her sister, she told her fans that nothing had changed. "Happy new year! How are things with the siblings? All but one still?" one fan wrote to her on Instagram, to which Dina simply replied, "yep," (via The Daily Dish) in 2019.
Despite the distance between them, Caroline seemed to be there for Dina in July 2020 when her ex-husband, Thomas Manzo, was arrested for allegedly hiring a mobster to harm David Cantin, Dina's current husband, per People. To add to their complicated family dynamic, Caroline is married to Thomas' brother, Albert Manzo. "We are heartbroken. This is family on both sides, " Caroline told Extra TV. "I want to know the truth and my allegiance will lie with the truth," she said, adding, "We don't run from things like this, we address them, and I feel comfortable with that because we are being painted with a brush that does not reflect who we are as people."
While Dina and Caroline's relationship may be up and down, Dina said she's still close with the rest of her family. "I get infuriated when people say, 'You don't speak to your family.' I have 10 siblings," she told Lewis in 2018. "We don't see each other often because we're on different coasts. But we're definitely fine."
Dina supported a post slamming her sister Caroline
In May, Dina Manzo made it clear that she and her sister are still very much estranged. Though she didn't post anything related to Tommy's case, she did let her feelings be known after her friend Luke Mckibben shared a photo of Caroline and Thomas with the words "Thick as Thieves."
In his caption, Luke criticized Caroline after she decided to be a character witness in Thomas' trial. "For years I have sat by and watched Dina take the high road over and over. Staying silent for many reasons but mainly out of respect for family. There's a million things I could have said throughout the years and spoken up to defend her. She would forbid me to say a word," he wrote. "But I can't stay silent while others continue to talk to help keep their relevance."
For her part, Dina commented (via Reality Blurb): "Normally Lukey I would ask you to take this down but ya know what? I'm starting to think some just expect us to stay quiet while they continue to hurt others...that's what gives them that 'power.'" She added, "I'll say it again ... it's not ok to take kindness for weakness. Plus if I don't laugh at this point I'll just continue to cry. I love you." Dina's daughter, Lexi, also commented on the post, writing, "Someone had to say it."
Dina Manzo also came for her Caroline's son Albie
Days after commenting on her friend's post, Dina Manzo took a shot at Caroline's son — and Dina's nephew — Albie after he said that he would discuss family drama in upcoming episodes of his podcast "Dear Albie" (via Page Six). In a since-deleted Instagram caption, he wrote: "I haven't been silent, I've been busy. But I've had just about enough of this bulls**t and you'll be hearing from me soon, don't you worry." Albie also used the moment to publicly support his mom, adding, "In the meantime...Momma bear, you're the strongest woman I know. I love and admire you more than you will ever understand."
"Ohhhh shocking ... going to speak about it on his podcast for the downloads," the former "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star wrote in the comments, according to a screenshot posted by a fan via Twitter. "Unfortunately this will just be a 'storyline' to profit from. What a shame." It's safe to say Dina and Caroline's lengthy feud is far from over.
