Nicki Minaj Gets Candid About Her Son's Birth
Nicki Minaj got candid about her son's birth with fans during a Q&A session on Dec. 30, 2020. The "Anaconda" rapper talked about her young child and some of the challenges of motherhood during a chat with fans on Twitter.
Minaj kept it real during the conversation, talking about everything from painful breastfeeding to how her water broke. The new mom recalled on Twitter, "I was butt naked. Just got out the shower & I asked him [husband Kenneth Petty] to rub my back. As soon as I started scooting over to him in the bed I just felt the water start coming out. I was weirdly calm & I quietly said 'omg, I'm about to be in labor.'"
The multi-platinum-selling rap star even shared her birth story in a tweet with fans. The first-time mother said she was in labor "all night" and that she was able to have a vaginal birth, supported by epidurals. "I pushed for 2 1/2 hours," she explained. "Only [because] first the epidural didn't wear off enough for me to feel myself pushing. Once I was able to feel the pain I pushed him out."

How Nicki Minaj is adjusting to parenting
The baby Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty share together is now 3 months old. The couple hasn't shared a picture of their son's face or his name. The rapper has mostly kept details about her son private, so her wide-open chat with fans was a surprise.
Minaj confessed that Ciara has been "so helpful," giving her parenting advice, and Ariana Grande sent her son "gorgeous gifts." Minaj also tweeted about breastfeeding to her fans. She wrote of her son, "He had no problem breastfeeding. He latched on in the hospital which was very surprising to me. I was afraid maybe he wouldn't. But breast feeding is very painful. Pumping is too. Women make this stuff look way too easy. Moms r really superheroes." We couldn't agree more!
Since this new mama is a queen of business, she took a second to chat about her upcoming documentary series on HBO Max. Minaj tweeted to a fan who asked for more details about her pregnancy, "You'll have to wait for the documentary." Oh, we will!
