Stephanie Matto Conquered One Of Her Biggest Fears On 90 Day Fiance
90 Day Fiancé star Stephanie Matto has had her fair share of controversy. From her quick temper with girlfriend Erika Owens on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days to her successful OnlyFans account and YouTube page, influencer Stephanie has weathered fan criticism since her first appearance on screen. Yet, Stephanie charmed some viewers with her vulnerability on the reality series.
While Stephanie ultimately didn't find love with Erika — and chose not to come out as bisexual — she did conquer a few fears on camera. The Yonkers, N.Y., resident went shark cage diving with Erika in Australia to prove that she may be scared of sharks, but isn't afraid of love. So what else did Stephanie open up about on screen? Keep scrolling to find out all of Stephanie's fears (hint, some involve commitment!) and why she still credits the 90 Day Fiancé franchise today for her newfound confidence.
Stephanie Matto was scared of all things nautical
Stephanie Matto revealed in a vlog on Nov. 4, 2020, that she does have some regrets about her time on Before the 90 Days. However, shark cage diving wasn't one of them!
Stephanie's time on the reality series was rife with anxiety. She was first nervous about traveling from New York to Australia to be with virtual love Erika Owens. Stephanie's aplastic anemia makes her more susceptible to germs, so much so that even the common cold could be life-threatening for her.
Once she was in Australia, Stephanie pushed herself to try new things. After a rocky start to their romance, Erika planned a special nautical date for the two of them. Stephanie waited until they were on the open water before revealing to Erika that she was scared of boats and the ocean.
"Sharks are one of my top 10 fears but things are back on track with me and Erika, so I want to show her that we can have fun together," Stephanie confessed, per a TV Insider recap. Once in the cage, Stephanie allowed herself to have fun and let go. She held hands with Erika, and later said she would "go to the ends of the earth" for love, according to BuzzFeed.
Today, Stephanie still struggles with being open with romantic partners. She joked during an Instagram Stories Q&A that she has "forgotten how to hold hands with another person." Hopefully Stephanie can overcome her fear of commitment next!
