The Strange Place Emma Stone's Fiance Proposed

Emma Stone and Dave McCary's love story has been a whirlwind of secrets.

The actress first met McCary, a producer on Saturday Night Live, when she hosted the NBC show in December 2016, according to Vogue. The couple kept their relationship under wraps for years it seems, only making their public debut as a twosome in January 2019 at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Just a few months later, the couple announced their engagement via McCary's Instagram with a selfie of the pair and Stone's pearl engagement ring. McCary simply captioned the December 2019 photo with a heart emoji. Like most couples preparing to marry in 2020, the pandemic reportedly killed their vibe and their wedding plans... or so we thought. People reported the couple did secretly marry sometime in 2020, with fans pointing out the new matching bands on their ring fingers. Stone is now pregnant with their first child.

Now, Page Six has revealed details behind the strange (yet totally romantic) place McCary proposed to Stone.

Emma Stone said yes in an untraditional setting

In a new report by Page Six, sources tell the outlet that Saturday Night Live producer and writer Dave McCary proposed to his girlfriend actress Emma Stone in, of course, the SNL offices.

The couple did meet at the NBC show's office in 30 Rock back in 2016, so it makes sense why McCary decided the best place to ask Stone to be his wife was exactly where their love story began. "No one was there and by all accounts, it was very romantic," the source told Page Six.

So what about the ring? Entertainment Tonight reported the unique engagement ring Stone sported was bought in New York City from Catbird. The ring, which was designed in Tokyo, features a pearl center and a .37 carat diamond halo surrounding the pearl in the form of a snowflake.

Seems like McCary and Stone's love story has been anything but expected, from the proposal to the ring to the secret 2020 wedding.
