Who Is Amanda Gorman's Twin Sister?

After capturing the world's attention for her reciting her poem, "The Hill We Climb," as the youngest inaugural poet at the 59th presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, 2021, Amanda Gorman has become a household name. Therefore, it's not surprising that many want to know more about her and her family.

Gorman was raised in Los Angeles by Joan Wicks, a single mother and English teacher. Her mom undoubtedly inspired her to become a writer, which gave her the courage to overcome her speech challenges. "I had a speech impediment," Gorman told CBS News in January 2021. "And so I couldn't use my voice, then I would author my voice on the page. So it's been a godsend and lifeline for me."

Although Gorman has rarely spoken publicly about what caused her speech issues, it was revealed that she and her twin sister were born prematurely and were thought to have developmental and physical issues because of it, according to Understood.org. Gorman overcame her audio processing issues and is now taking over the world, even trying her hand at modeling. And Gorman's twin sister, Gabrielle Gorman, is equally as artistic and talented. We've got the scoop on her below.

Amanda Gorman's sister has worked on the set of famous TV shows

According to Radio.com, Gabrielle Gorman graduated from UCLA's School of Film and Television in 2020, and is passionate about creating stories both on and off-screen. In 2016, she was selected to be a "shadowee" for Shonda Rhimes' production company, where she learned the requirements of the job on the sets of Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder. She also won the Aaron Sorkin Writing Award — named after the famed screenwriter — at the WestFlix Film Festival that year.

Besides writing and directing short films such as Mr. Ewing and Dear America, Gorman also has experience in digital marketing. She interned at Complex in 2017, where she worked with artists like Lana Del Rey and The Game. In separate internships, she also developed content for Scooter Braun and Ava Duvernay's companies and initiatives, as per her website.

Like her sister, Gabrielle Gorman is passionate about storytelling and how it intersects with positive social change, having lent her talents in getting people to vote in the 2020 elections and raising awareness for the arts.

With several awards under her belt, Gorman is slowly but quietly rising up the ranks in Hollywood and shows no sign of stopping.
