The premise of The Bachelorette is to find love. However, that doesn't always happen. And even when the contestants do find love, it doesn't always result in a relationship that lasts forever. Love isn't promised — that's surely true both on and off reality TV — but going on a Bachelor show is a guarantee to make some money. While the contestants don't actually get paid to be on TV, per former Bachelorette star Jillian Harris, the lead does make money.

There doesn't appear to be a fixed amount of money that a lead earns each season. However, Bachelor Nation: Inside the World of America's Favorite Guilty Pleasure author Amy Kaufman claimed: "it would be incredibly rare for someone to make less than six figures as the star of the show." And there's even more money to be made after the fact, due in large part to social media.

Even if a Bachelor relationship doesn't last, that doesn't mean that the financial opportunities dry up. Yes, there's probably more money to be made as a Bachelor couple than as an individual, but brand deals and Instagram followers are a solid consolation prize post-breakup. It doesn't make up for heartache, but at least Clare Crawley can monetize her Bachelorette stint as she moves on after her split from Dale Moss. While it's debatably unfair to say who's "winning" or "losing" following a breakup, the numbers don't lie when it comes to money: Clare and Dale don't have the same net worth.

Clare Crawley and Dale Moss are well-off

When she starred on The Bachelorette in 2020, it marked Clare Crawley's fifth appearance on a Bachelor show. First, she got to the final two on Juan Pablo GalavisBachelor season. Then, she did two stints on Bachelor in Paradise along with making an appearance on The Bachelor: Winter Games

Bachelor franchise expert Steve Carbone, better known as Reality Steve, claimed that Bachelor in Paradise cast members make "anywhere from about $7,000-$15,000 total." And that was back in 2014. The show has only become more popular over the years. Two years later, Reality Steve said that everyone gets paid differently, explaining, "Some get paid per day they are there, some get paid per episode they're on, and some get paid a flat rate (usually alumni)."

Clare worked for years as a hairstylist in Sacramento, Calif., however, it's unclear if she still does this, especially given the coronavirus pandemic, but she did cut Dale Moss' hair in December 2020. Life & Style reported that Clare's net worth is estimated at $800,000. In contrast, International Business Times claims that Dale is worth $5 million. He had a short-lived NFL career, making $420,000 in 2014, per Spotrac. He's also worked as a model for brands, including Party City, per Page Six. These days, he's living that influencer life, sharing posts sponsored by Reebok and recording video shout-outs on Cameo.

Although Clare's estimated fortune is less than Dale's, she did reach one million Instagram followers over the course of her season, which could result in some major paydays.
