What Will Happen To Alaskan Bush People Season 13 Without Billy Brown?
Fans of the Discovery hit Alaskan Bush People are not only mourning the death of star Billy Brown, but they are also wondering how the show will carry on without him.
One of Billy's sons, Bear Brown, recently announced the reality star's death at age 68 on his private Instagram (via People) by writing, "We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering from a seizure." Bear continued by writing, "He lived his life on his terms, off the grid and off the land and taught us to live like that as well. We plan to honor his legacy going forward, and to continue with his dream. We ask for privacy and prayers during this painful time."
While Bear writes that the plan is to continue with his father's dream, it's unclear if he meant by continuing to live Billy's off-the-grid lifestyle or by continuing to film their hit reality show.
Discovery has not yet commented on how the show will move forward, but a spokesperson did release a statement on Billy's death, saying, "We are devastated to hear of Billy Brown's sudden passing. He has been part of the Discovery family for years — a trailblazer, a lovely man and most definitely one of a kind. Our heart is with his family and those that knew him and loved him as they deal with this devastating loss."
Bear Brown says they already began filming season 13 of Alaskan Bush People
While the future of Alaskan Bush People may be up in the air after the death of star Billy Brown, his son Bear Brown says that the next season of the show has already been filmed.
The reality show, which finished airing their latest episodes, aka season 12, in October 2020, left off with the Brown family touring the damage done by wildfires in the mountains where they live in Washington. While Discovery has yet to formally announce when season 13 will debut or if they are even doing another season of the show, Popculture reports that Bear recently confirmed to his Instagram followers that another season was filmed and that it features him getting married. He wrote in part, "Be sure to check out the new season of Alaskan Bush People and all your questions will be answered!!!!"
Bear made that post about season 13 just days before his father's death, which leads fans to believe that season 13 may include Billy, after all, since it was filmed before he died. Yet, it remains unclear how or if Discovery will move on for future seasons of Alaskan Bush People now that the patriarch of the family and the show's primary star is no longer with us.
