Jodie Foster Finally Addresses Aaron Rodgers Rumors

We all know Jodie Foster the actress, and now Jodie Foster the Green Bay Packers fan, but Jodie Foster the ... matchmaker? In February 2021, news broke that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was engaged to Big Little Lies star Shailene Woodley. Rodgers dropped the news that he was engaged -– although he didn't name Woodley directly -– during an acceptance speech that also included Foster's name.

Rodgers received the most valuable player award during the NFL Honors broadcast on Feb. 6, 2021. In addition to announcing the news of his engagement, he went on to express his gratitude for the "great group" of people who comprise his "team off the field." Among the names he mentioned as personal supporters — none other than two-time Oscar winner Foster.

Foster and Woodley co-star in the film The Mauritanian, so once fans realized Fosters' connection to both Rodgers and Woodley, fans began to wonder if Foster set them up.

During an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel asked Foster if she knew Rodgers, to which she exclaimed, "No!" Kimmel then asked if she knew he was going to give her a shoutout. She simply replied with this: "He just knows I'm his biggest fan."

Really? Is that it? Is that really all there is to this story? Let's dig a little deeper.

Jodie Foster cozied up to Aaron Rodgers' fiancee

Perhaps Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers knows that Jodie Foster is a big fan because she's worked with his fiancée, Shailene Woodley. During her interview with Kimmel, Foster admitted the Packers came up in conversation when filming together.

"So we [Woodley] spent a lot of time on The Mauritanian together in a little tent with air conditioning spitting at us talking about our lives and recipes and people we hate, things like that," Foster said, "and the Green Bay Packers somehow came up!"

Foster is nominated for a 2021 Golden Globe for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a motion picture for her performance in The Mauritanian. Kimmel asked if she was going to repay the shoutout to Rodgers if she wins. "Absolutely!" she said.

While Foster doesn't consider herself a matchmaker, The Silence of the Lambs star said she does consider herself part of the Green Bay Packers team.
