Expert Reacts To Taylor Swift's Grammys Performance Outfit

Taylor Swift returned to the Grammys stage for the first time in five years to perform a medley from her Folklore and Evermore albums, which included songs "Cardigan," "August," and "Willow." Swift is known for her over-the-top performances, like her opening set at the 2013 Grammy Awards that essentially brought a whole circus onto the stage. However, Swift's personal and musical style has been a lot more low-key than her previous days of fiery Reputation lyrics and synthesized '80s pop tunes from her genre-shifting album 1989.

Swift's two albums released during the coronavirus pandemic have a woodland, folky vibe, and her style has shifted to match that. Before the 2021 Grammy Awards, Swifties were speculating what the Pennsylvania native would wear to the show, with many assuming it would be a long, flowing cottage-core dress to match her current "folklorian"era. It turns out Swifties weren't too far off, as she donned a floor length, whimsical dress paired with her Folklore/Evermore era-defining updo.

Of course, we know fans were ecstatic to see the "Champagne Problems" singer rocking the ruffled dress, and Nicki Swift wanted an expert's opinion. Here is what she had to say.

A fashion expert weighs in on Taylor Swift's Grammys dress

Cindy Conroy, fashion expert and TV personality, exclusively told Nicki Swift that she thought Taylor Swift's performance outfit from the 2021 Grammy Awards was the chef's kiss to an era that has spawned two No. 1 albums.

"Taylor Swift gave us summer dreams for her Grammy performance. In a floor-grazing V-neck ruffled gold and navy maxi dress, Swift proved that bare feet are ultra sexy," Conroy stated. "Flouncy and flirty, the dress was a welcomed pop against the vibrant green moss and grass that transformed the stage into a quaint country cottage." Swift hopped around the dreamy set like the "woodland fairy" that she is, and, as Conroy noted, the high slit in the dress allowed her "to show the dress' true versatility as she hypnotically played with the skirt."

Aside from choosing an appropriate outfit to match her current music, Conroy also said Swift picked the perfect dress as her Grammy comeback. "With this being Swift's first time performing in five years, her outfit selection is a dramatic one," she told Nicki Swift. "The effortless elegance symbolizes her dedication to her music and her fans despite a rocky relationship with the Grammys in recent years." Considering Swift won Album of the Year, maybe she will bury the hatchet and her "Bad Blood" with the Recording Academy.
