Trump Wants Meghan Markle To Run For President. Here's Why

Meghan Markle has been making headlines since she and Prince Harry gave a bombshell interview with Oprah that aired on March 7, 2021, where Meghan revealed that she'd experienced racism at the hands of a royal family member and had been denied help for her mental health struggles.

When Meghan married into the royal family she had to halt all political conversations. According to Newsweek, the queen does not vote in the U.K., as it would be "considered unconstitutional," and the royal family follows suit by honoring the convention. Now that Harry and Meghan have moved to California and are no longer working members of the royal family, they've been getting more involved in American politics — Meghan even voted in the 2020 presidential election. According to the Daily Mail, Meghan is even networking with Democrats to gain support for a potential presidential run in 2024.

So, why does the prospect of the Duchess of Sussex running for the highest office entice former President Trump? Read on to find out.

Trump says he's 'not a fan' of of Meghan Markle, but wants her to run for office in 2024

In a March 16, 2021 Fox News interview, Donald Trump was asked about his thoughts on Meghan Markle's potential White House aspirations. "Well, I hope that happens because if that happened, then I think I'd have an even stronger feeling toward running," Trump replied. "I'm not a fan of hers. I think that what she talks about the royal family and the queen — I happen to think, I know the queen, as you know. I've met with the queen and I think the queen is a tremendous person. And I'm not a fan of Meghan."

Trump made his disdain for Meghan and Prince Harry known last year, when they decided to take a step back from royal family duties. He tweeted, as per AP News, "I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!" Prior to joining the royal family, Meghan made no effort to hide her feeling about Trump, once calling him misogynistic, according to Insider.
