The Truth About Rory McIlroy's Wife Erica Stoll

Rory McIlory is one of the most talented and highly-respected players on the PGA tour, and his career began at a young age. By the time he was just 23, he had amassed $10 million in career earnings on the PGA tour, which isn't too shabby at all. McIlory has also had an impressive run at the Masters. The event has earned the Irishman more than $2.5 million in his career, and his best finish was 4th place in 2015. There's no doubt that McIlroy is making a name for himself in the world of golf. That being said, his life outside the spotlight has also been highly publicized.

According to the New York Post, McIlroy infamously dumped his fiance, tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, over the phone in 2014. "I thought at least, you know, I would get a face-to-face or something, but there was nothing," Wozniacki shared on In Depth with Graham Bensinger. "It was just a phone call, and I did not hear from him again." The breakup was messy, and both McIlroy and Wozniacki have talked about it several times in the press. The golfer was also linked to Meghan Markle at one point.

According to The Irish Times, after a few failed romances, the golfer finally found love with Erica Stoll, and the pair wed in 2017. Keep scrolling to find out more!

Erica Stoll keeps Rory McIlroy grounded

Rory McIlroy's wife, Eric Stoll, also has plenty of ties to the sport of golf. According to Golf Monthy, McIlroy actually met his bride while she was working at a PGA event. They had their first encounter in 2012 when McIlory overslept and was late for the Ryder Cup. Stoll helped get McIlroy to the course to avoid embarrassment (and the police escort also helped.) The outlet reports that Stoll loves to watch The Bachelor (because let's be honest, who doesn't?), and she's also into sailing.

Stoll was born in Irondequoit, New York, and she attended West Irondequoit High School. After high school, she attended Rochester Institute of Technology. She has a small immediate family, which includes just one sibling, sister Natalie Stoll. McIlory has not been shy about singing his wife's praises and her tendency to stay away from the spotlight. "Erica has been around me quite a lot at tournaments, but we have really just tried to keep it low key," he told The Independent before their 2017 wedding. "She is a very low key person, not the kind to broadcast stuff, but that side of my life is really good just now. We are excited, our parents are excited so it is a really happy time."

The golfer also credited his wifey for being a great influence and bringing "such a level of normality to everything." How sweet are these two?
