Nicolas Cage has been a leading man in Hollywood for decades and his personal life is no different. The actor has been married multiple times, but it seems like Cage's most recent wife, Riko Shibata, will be his happily ever after. He was previously married to five other women: his first wife, Patricia Arquette, from 1995 to 2001; Lisa Marie Presley, whom he married in 2000 and then filed for divorce three months later; Alice Kim, whom he married in 2004 and divorced after 12 years together; and then Erika Koike, whom he married in March 2019 and then filed for divorce four days later.
So he's had a ton of relationships, some shorter than others, but the fact that so far this one has lasted more than a week is a good sign. According to Today, the couple had "a very small and intimate wedding at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas" in February 2021. Cage said in a statement to the outlet, "It's true, and we are very happy." A rep for the actor added that Cage thought of everything when it came to making sure the ceremony was just so. "The date was chosen to honor the birthday of the groom's late father. The bride wore a handmade Japanese Bridal Kimono from Kyoto that required three layers ... The groom wore a Tom Ford Tuxedo," the rep said.

Nicolas Cage and Riko Shibata met in Japan and dated for a year before tying the knot. Per Today, "They exchanged traditional Catholic and Shinto vows with poetry from Walt Whitman and Haiku sprinkled in," Cage's rep explained. "After the wedding, the happy couple was joined for a small celebration attended by Nicolas' ex-wife, Alice (whom he remains very good friends with) and their son Kal." It's nice they were able to celebrate with his ex and his son. (Cage also has an older son, Weston, from a relationship with Christina Fulton, per People.)
Although they met over a year ago in Japan, because of the coronavirus pandemic and their schedules, they spent a lot of time apart, Cage noted during an appearance on his brother Marc Coppola's radio show in August 2020. The actor elaborated, "We're really happy together and we're really excited to spend that time together so I finally just said, 'Look, I wanna marry you' and we got engaged on FaceTime."
There's not a lot of information about Shibata's life outside of Cage, and her Instagram is private for now. But as they spend more time together, she'll likely get her footing in Hollywood. In the meantime, the couple has been spotted taking romantic carriage rides around NYC and he even took her to see his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They're clearly in love, even if they're both keeping things on the down low for now.

Nicolas Cage's 2021 film "Prisoners of Ghostland," in which he plays a character named Hero, is one of those rare instances where critics liked the film more than audiences did. Per the IMDb page, Cage's wife Riko Shibata is billed as "Mannequin Woman." The film was shot in Japan where Cage first met Shibata through a mutual friend while filming the movie, he told Flaunt Magazine (via People).
"It's kind of amazing to me still that 'Prisoners of the Ghostland' even got made," Cage told Complex. He explained to the outlet that it was a dream of director Sion Sono to have an English film debut, which nearly didn't happen because Sono had a heart attack. Upon seeing his friend's dream almost fall apart, Cage told Complex that getting the movie made became particularly important to him. "[That] experience compelled me to ask him to make a movie in Japan because I didn't want anything to happen to him," Cage told the outlet. "He's not only a great filmmaker, he's also my friend."
Riko Shibata is pregnant with Nicolas Cage's third child
Being a dad, as well as a grandfather, is a familiar adventure for Nicolas Cage. The actor has two grown sons named Weston and Kal-El from previous relationships, but he is now expecting a daughter with his wife Riko Shibata. "The parents-to-be are elated," the couple's rep told People of the announcement in January 2022.
Cage told GQ before finding out the baby's sex that he and Shibata had two names picked out depending on that outcome. Both names hold a lot of sentimental value for Cage. He told the magazine that their baby would be named Akira Francesco for a boy and Lennon Augie for a girl. "Augie was my father's nickname," Cage explained to GQ. "And my uncle [Francis Ford Coppola] has decided to change his name to Francesco." Cage then reportedly showed GQ writer Gabriella Paiella the two-month ultrasound image and said, "I think it's so sweet. It's like a little edamame. A little bean."
