Colton Underwood rose to fame for his stint on the 14th season of The Bachelorette, making it to the final four men on Becca Kufrin's season. After that, he appeared on The Bachelor in Paradise before landing the lead spot on The Bachelor in 2018 — where he famously picked Cassie Randolph. The couple did not end up walking down the aisle, and in May 2020, he announced on Instagram that he and Cassie would be going their separate ways. They both also shared the news on social media.

Colton was previously linked to Aly Raisman in 2016 — before his Bachelor fame came into play. According to People, Colton asked the Olympic gymnast out in a viral video. At the time, he was a tight end for the Raiders, and she was training for the 2016 Olympics. In his book, The First Time: Finding Myself and Looking for Love on Reality TV, Colton gushed over his love for Raisman, but shared that there was one thing he couldn't tell her — he was broke.

"My shoulder surgery, at a cost of $40,000 to me, took most of my savings," he revealed. "The rest went for plane tickets and hotels to see Aly. I even sold my car. I loved her. I could tell her anything and everything — except that I had no money." Raisman broke up with Colton in February 2017 (via CheatSheet), but he's come a long way financially since then.

Colton Underwood's earnings have continued to grow

Colton Underwood's career in reality television has done him well. According to Celebrity Net Worth, he is worth a cool $1 million. According to the outlet, Colton had brief stints with a few NFL teams, including the San Diego Chargers, the Oakland Raiders, and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a member of the practice squad on each of the occasions. According to Hogs Haven, practice team members earn an average of $8,400 per week. Sportrac also reported that Colton is estimated to have made $130,500 during his NFL career.

The former football star also owned a bar, 4th & Goal, in Washington, Ill. He sold the establishment in 2018, per the PJ Star. "He's been busy with his foundation and couldn't get back much," Sherrie Lucas (Colton's aunt) said. "So we talked him into selling it to us." They renamed the eatery Brickhouse BBQ, but it's unclear how much the transaction was for. Colton also made a good chunk of cash on The Bachelor. According to Reality Steve, the leading contestant makes around $100,000 a season.

After that, the endorsement deals generally roll in, opening up other streams of income. Colton's book titled The First Time: Finding Myself and Looking for Love on Reality TV also likely made a killing, and it even earned a spot on the New York Times Best Seller list. It seems like Colton has found several ways to make a comfortable living in his life, and he's come a long way from almost being broke.
