Kyra Sedgwick Reveals An Awkward Moment From Having Dinner At Tom Cruise's House

Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are one of Hollywood's most enduring couples, so it makes sense that they would have some great stories about the famous stars they've shared a screen with.

And as Sedgwick recently told Drew Barrymore, she had one particularly awkward encounter with Tom Cruise back in the early '90s. "It was a sad moment, but it was a funny story," Sedgwick admitted when Barrymore asked her to share the anecdote on her talk show. "So I was pregnant, I was very pregnant, and we got invited over to dinner. I had worked with Tom on Born On The Fourth Of July, but Kev was doing A Few Good Men."

"So we got invited over for dinner with lots of famous people like Demi Moore and Bruce Willis because she was in the movie," the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star recalled, adding that Rob Reiner and Nicole Kidman were also there. "It was one of those nights that I often don't get invited to and so there was this, like, fireplace mantle and I was looking around and there was this little button underneath the mantle."

"I was like, 'Oh what is that little button?' So I pressed the little button because I thought maybe something interesting will happen," Sedgwick continued. "Nothing happened, and then I got a little nervous."

Kyra Sedgwick 'didn't get invited back' to Tom Cruise's house

Kyra Sedgwick, who confessed that she can be a nosy dinner guest, told Drew Barrymore how Tom Cruise reacted to her faux pas. After the button didn't do anything interesting or mysterious, like "make the wall turn around," she began to worry. "I was like, 'Oh, nothing happened, that doesn't seem right,'" the Emmy Award-winning actor said. "So I tapped Tom on the shoulder, who was in the middle of a story, and I said, 'I pressed this button down here.'"

"And he was like, 'You pressed that button?' And I was like, 'Yeah, I pressed that button.' And he goes, 'That's the panic button,'" Sedgwick added, to the amusement of Barrymore. "And so the cops came, they had to stop the screening, they had to see Tom."

In the end, more than "five cop cars" arrived on the scene to make sure the Mission Impossible star was okay after the panic button had been accidentally triggered, according to Sedgwick. "I didn't get invited back," she quipped, laughing at her own hilarious blunder.
