Why Miranda Lambert's Outfit At The ACMs Looked So Familiar

Miranda Lambert has 35 Academy of Country Music Awards, making her the most decorated artist at the annual awards ceremony, as the New York Post reports. With all due respect to Dolly Parton, Lambert is the unofficial queen of the ACMs and she kicked off 2021 with not one, but two duets. She and Elle King opened the show after rocking the red carpet in matching flare legged studded jumpsuits accented with long, leather coats and flowing fringe — blue for the very pregnant King, and pink for Lambert, as US Weekly reported. E! News aptly and humorously called Lambert and King's red carpet look, "fringe-ship" goals.

Lambert and King sang their catchy duet "Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)" from the Grand Ole Opry House. Then Lambert sang "Maggie's Song" with Chris Stapleton, filling in for his wife Morgane Stapleton from the Bluebird Café. Prior to the event, Lambert took to Instagram to post her red carpet look with King, captioning it, "GOATS!! @elleking, It's ACM day y'all! #drunk #duo #peggyandpreggy." The post had two pics and Lambert wrote that people should check out the second pic for how she and King looked after a long day of ACM-related media. The second photo was of two goats.

However, some people found Lambert's ACM looks to be somewhat familiar.

Some fans said Miranda Lambert's fringed jumpsuit reminded them of a 1980s wrestler

Did those fringed jumpsuits remind you of anyone? One Twitter user nailed it on the head by comparing Miranda Lambert and Elle King's outfits to the late wrestler Randy "Macho Man" Savage.

Back in the day, Savage was one of the biggest wrestlers around and popular enough to rival Hulk Hogan. WWE reports, "Few superstars were as dynamic as 'Macho Man' Randy Savage. His style — perfectly punctuated by his entrance music, 'Pomp and Circumstance' — was only outshined by his performances in the ring, which led him to two WWE Championships, four WCW World Championships and a 14-month reign as Intercontinental Champion."

Lambert and King's looks were definitely a throwback to a different era with the studding, fringe, the long jackets, and bell bottoms, Rolling Stone said. Part biker-chic and part totally appropriate over-the-top country music award show, the pair definitely take the prize for the most unique outfits of the night!
