How Does Hailey Bieber Feel Being Known As Justin Bieber's Wife?

Hailey Bieber's high-profile marriage to Justin Bieber has come with its highs and lows, and now the model is revealing what it's like being married to such a famous star and how she feels when people call her "Justin's wife." The young Hollywood couple wed secretly in September 2018, a year before their celeb-filled wedding in South Carolina took place. With both stars marrying at a young age, fans grew curious about the couple's relationship, even spreading false rumors about how Bieber treats his model wife.

"There's one big fat narrative that goes around that's like, 'Justin is not nice to her and he mistreats her.' It's so far from the truth," said Hailey to Demi Lovato in an episode of Lovato's YouTube series "4D with Demi Lovato." "It's the complete and utter opposite. I really am lucky to say I'm with someone who is extremely respectful of me, who makes me feel special every single day." Like any marriage, however, the Biebers haven't been immune to newlywed struggles. Hailey opened up to Glamour in 2019 about the pressure she faces being in a very public relationship and how she values finding "moments for [herself]."

"When you're in a relationship too, and you're with another person all the time," said Hailey. "I think it's important for both parties to be able to be, like, 'Hey, I need an hour to myself.'" After all, before she was "Justin's wife," she was a model, with a career she wishes more people acknowledged.

Hailey Bieber "worked hard" to establish herself

Speaking to Demi Lovato on "4D with Demi Lovato," model Hailey Bieber revealed she has no issue being referred to as "Justin's wife."

"When you marry someone that is really well known, you also accept that a lot of the time people are going to be like, 'Oh yeah, that's blah, blah blah's wife.' It doesn't bother me," said the model. "It bothers me when people try to take it and flip it and be like, 'People wouldn't know who you were if you weren't his wife.' Because I disagree. I'm sorry, but I disagree ... I have all my own work relationships, I do my own thing, I have my own job, I have my own money."

Hailey's model career has earned her deals with Adidas and BareMinerals, according to People. "When [Justin and I] split up and we didn't talk for a very long time, I feel like I worked very hard to continue establishing who Hailey was and I still work to establish that." A member of the famed Baldwin family, Hailey Baldwin has been working to build herself both before and after her marriage to Bieber and is navigating ways to deal with the increased fame.

Hailey Bieber had to turn off social media comments

In an interview with GQ, Justin Bieber got brutally honest about his marriage to Hailey Bieber, revealing his "first year of marriage was really tough."

The singer continued, "there was a lot, going back to the trauma stuff. There was just lack of trust. There was all these things that you don't want to admit to the person that you're with, because it's scary." Bieber noted that his first year with the model was "on eggshells," and Hailey revealed to Elle much of the same.

"In the beginning of our marriage, I just wanted to hide," admitted Hailey. "I was like, 'I don't want people so in my business. I feel like everybody's up my a**.' I was like, 'Can there be no anonymity? Can I have any of it back?'" The newfound fame that came with being married to a pop star was more than even a Baldwin could imagine.

"I was struggling horribly with anxiety — really, really bad," said the model to Glamour in 2019. "I couldn't sleep. I was just going through a time." She went on to share how meditation helped her through her anxiety and two years later told Elle she combated the salacious rumors online by blocking her comments section on Instagram. "I remember someone telling me that [turning off the public comments] really lowers your engagement. And I was like, 'I could give a f**k about engagement! People are terrorizing me."
