Cooking With Paris Season 2 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far

Created by the one and only Paris Hilton, "Cooking With Paris" is a cooking reality show on Netflix based on her previous YouTube video of the same name. Hilton initially uploaded said YouTube video of her making lasagna as a one-off in January 2020, but it quickly became viral and prompted Netflix to produce a series (via People).

The show, which debuted on the platform in August, follows the heiress around the kitchen as she attempts to make signature dishes with her indelible flair and style. She also invites celebrities to participate in the madness, leading to a messy kitchen and oftentimes inedible food. But hey, the dining room is gorgeous, right? Plus, you're not watching Paris Hilton cook to ... learn how to cook.

According to The New York Times, the chaotic nature of "Cooking With Paris" is what makes it a hit. Executive producer Aaron Saidman knows Hilton's actual culinary abilities are indeed beside the point, telling the outlet, "We thought it'd be fun to delve into her cooking skills, or lack thereof." Clearly, audiences have an appetite for celebrity cooking shows, but Hilton's glamorous style is what is making people come back for more! So, if you've devoured Season 1 of "Cooking With Paris" and want a second helping, here's when Hilton will be serving up Season 2.

When will 'Cooking With Paris' Season 2 be released?

As of writing, Netflix has yet to announce a release date for Season 2 of "Cooking With Paris." But there is no reason to think that producers can't pull off another six-episode season of the show, especially when each one follows the same 20 or 25-minute run-time and format. However, it may be a while before Netflix announces a renewal because of what's called assessments.

As Pop Culture Times points out, Netflix typically waits two or three months to assess a show's performance before greenlighting a new season, meaning that we'll likely have to wait for an official announcement for a few more months. Considering that Netflix usually takes a year to produce a show after its renewal, late summer 2022 would probably be the earliest premiere date for Season 2 of "Cooking With Paris." Especially since Variety announced Season 1 of the show this past July (though Hilton had already filmed the episodes a year in advance). If the show has been renewed, it looks like the production schedule will remain similar if not the same for Season 2, so we're just not there yet.

Who is cast in 'Cooking With Paris' Season 2?

While Paris Hilton is the main draw for viewers tuning into "Cooking With Paris," her celebrity friends — Kim Kardashian, Saweetie, Demi Lovato, to name a few — have been equally as entertaining as guests. According to Grub Street, Hilton's discussions with her famous friends about their lives have been a reason why the show has been so successful — we mean, who wouldn't want to watch Hilton and former-BFF Kim Kardashian figure out how to use a dishwasher while getting confused about what kitchen tools actually go in it?

If Netflix renews "Cooking With Paris" for Season 2, it is likely that the celebrity format will return as well. She could invite her former "The Simple Life" co-star Nicole Richie to make a dairy-based dish as an ode to their cow-milking days, or other celebrities she admires to be on the show. Another person she could invite is her fiancé Carter Reum. Hilton gushed about him during Season 1, so it might be time for him to cook up a romantic feast for her as a reward.

'Cooking With Paris' might need to change its approach for Season 2

Although fans of Paris Hilton have may say "that's hot" about her show, critics have not been nearly as kind. Hilton's lack of knowledge around the kitchen and her privilege has made her a target of food critics. As Rachel Sugar of Grub Street points out, Hilton's performance in the kitchen is almost satirical. "You watch this show and you do not want to be Paris Hilton, or befriend her, or eat her glitter-topped cannoli, or pet her many tiny dogs," Sugar said. "[Hilton's] life looks nothing like yours, and she doesn't want it to, and neither do you. Culinary television is not set up for this." Clearly, Hilton's luxurious life, or the show's potential lack of substance, doesn't seem to be a selling point for everyone.

Variety notes that if Hilton returns for Season 2, she'll need to change the show's approach and be more relatable to audiences. "By the end of the series, what we've learned about Hilton is that she sort of likes to cook, ... that she has a staff willing and able to transform a room of her house into a theme restaurant at her command ... and that she doesn't like learning new things," critic Daniel D'Addario wrote.

Here's hoping that Hilton can prove critics wrong and that we get a Season 2!
