Who Is Thomas Petrou From The Hype House?

In late 2019, YouTuber Thomas Petrou and TikTok star Chase Hudson (better known as Lil Huddy) came up with an idea that would kick start a new wave of social media. The two proposed to buy a mansion in Los Angeles that would be a collaborative space for social media stars. By the end of the year, "The Hype House" was born, according to The New York Times.

As the oldest member among stars like Addison Rae and the D'Amelio sisters, Thomas became a leader in the house. In that role, he oversees many (and any) issues that would arise within the house. While it might seem that a bunch of teens in a mansion would be in constant debauchery, Thomas wanted to set strict terms, especially when it came to creating content. "This whole house is designed for productivity," he told the NYT, adding that "If you want to party, there's hundreds of houses that throw parties in L.A. every weekend." The social media star's serious work ethic and focus worked well for the house, as the collective's social numbers soared and the Hype House's occupants grew to 19 members as of early 2020, Forbes reported.

Along the way, Thomas experienced an impressive amount of drama that could only come from living amongst young, overnight, social media celebrities. From controversies to love to friends who have come and gone, Thomas consistently put out content and continued to grow his social media empire.

It's time to find out: Who exactly is Thomas Petrou from The Hype House?

Thomas Petrou, the social media star — and boyfriend

Thomas Petrou has a staggering number of projects going on at the same time. To further dive into the inner workings of the house — and all the drama that comes along with it — Netflix announced an unscripted series called "Hype House." Among those on camera are Thomas and Lil Huddy, per Deadline, and the show is set to follow the stars' journey from normal life to huge social fame. Thomas himself has 1.85 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, 2.1 million followers on Instagram, and 8.1 million followers on TikTok. This in addition to appearing on the official Hype House YouTube, Instagram and TikTok accounts.

More than just followers, there is serious money to be made as a social media personality. According to Net Worth Spot, at one point, Thomas was worth an estimated $1.69 million based on his popular YouTube channel alone. Adding in all of his additional socials and other streams of income, he could reportedly be worth $2.37 million.

In his personal life, Thomas linked up with Mia Hayward, another Hype House member. In June 2020, Thomas confirmed in a video for The Hollywood Fix that he and Mia were officially dating. By that point, they seemed to be well into their relationship, as evidenced by a series of cute couple photos Thomas posted on Instagram in April 2020. The following year, both took time to visit to Paris, with Thomas posting a picture kissing Mia in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Thomas Petrou had a way of making enemies

Though The Hype House was the first of its kind for spawning some of the biggest stars on TikTok, the idea of a collaborative house wasn't completely novel. As early as 2014, YouTube stars like Jake Paul began forming collectives and living together with their fellow influencers. And Thomas Petrou would know this well, because he was briefly a part of Team 10, Jake's collective. After just three months with the team, Thomas claimed in a since-deleted video, per Seventeen, that there were "a few complaints about a few things that added up and that was the excuse to fire me."

But Thomas also caused complaints as the head of The Hype House. For example, original house member Daisy Keech filed a lawsuit against Thomas, Chase Hudson, and the house. As reported by Forbes, Keech felt both men left her out of lucrative business deals — and even the group's social media accounts. According to Dextero, Thomas revealed on a July 2021 podcast that they had settled with Daisy, but weren't allowed to discuss the matter as they had signed NDAs.

We guess not all is hype in The Hype House.
