Yet, while she has seen great success in life, Carter is currently struggling with a tragic life event that took place earlier this year.
Lynda Carter is grieving her late husband, Robert Altman
Lynda Carter lost her husband, Robert Altman, at age 73, on February 3 due to complications from myelofibrosis, a rare blood cancer, according to People. Though months have passed since Altman died, the OG "Wonder Woman" actor revealed she continues to deal with grief. "I cry probably three times a day, in the morning and various times when I think of him," Carter said in a recent interview with Tamron Hall (via People).
Carter and Altman built a strong bond over their 37-year marriage. According to the Daily Mail, Carter and Altman met in 1982 when the "Wonder Woman" star was divorcing her first husband. The outlet reported that she wasn't ready to meet anyone new at the time, but love ultimately got in the way of her plans.
Altman's tragic passing was a shock to the "Wonder Woman" star. "Nothing could prepare our family for this moment, but we will do our best to follow our dreams and honor the legacy you've left behind," Carter said in a tribute post to Altman on Instagram following his death. "I will love you always and forever."
Lynda Carter is turning her grief into music
Lynda Carter said the next chapter of her life will be about learning who she is (People). "It's totally frightening," the actor said. "I don't know who I am without Robert." In one of the greatest ventures of self-expression, the talented star is now channeling the grief from her tragic loss into new music projects. Her song, "Human and Divine," released October 29, is an epic ballad about love. "Writing this song, I felt extremely vulnerable and inspired," Carter said in a statement upon the release of her single.
Carter announced "Human and Divine" was inspired by both her love story with her late husband and later the romance in "Wonder Woman: 1984." "'[Human and Divine]' became about the love between Steve and Diana, and then the love that some of us are so lucky enough to have in our lives, the great love stories over the ages," Carter said.
After Robert Altman's passing, Carter said she wishes for her song to reach audiences with a message of love. "My hope is that this song will inspire your connection to your own love in your life," she said.
