What Katie Ann Schmucker Has Been Up To Since Leaving Return To Amish

"Breaking Amish" debuted on TLC in September 2012 and ran for four seasons. The show followed five young Anabaptist adults, who moved to New York City to experience a vastly different lifestyle than what they were raised in. The "Breaking Amish" spin-off series, "Return to Amish," aired on TLC in 2014 and featured a number of the same cast members from "Breaking Amish" after they decided to return to their roots. The most recent episode of the show aired in March 2021. According to TV Shows Ace, a new season has yet to be announced, but that isn't entirely shocking — the outlet reported that the show tends to announce a new season about a month ahead of its premiere.

On a "Return to Amish" reunion, one of the show's stars, Katie Ann Schmucker, announced that she would be leaving the Amish to move in with her boyfriend and join the rodeo – something she had wanted to do for years. However, not long after that announcement was made, Katie Ann returned to her Amish family to marry her boyfriend. Her sister-in-law, Rebecca Schmucker, uploaded a photo of Katie Ann's wedding cake to social media and captioned the pic, "Us ex-Amish can't be there, but I hope it's a good day for them." What is Katie Ann up to today? What do we know about her life since getting married? Let's take a look.

Katie Ann's pregnancy was announced by her sister-in-law

In April 2020, Rebecca Schmucker announced in an Instagram post that someone in the "Return to Amish" family was pregnant, per TV Shows Ace. The post, which was uploaded to her private account, was captioned, "Can you guess who is due very soon? ITS NOT ME! Boy or Girl?" According to the outlet, a number of fans guessed Katie Ann Schmucker. One fan even wrote, "Katie Anne, girl. Congratulations though to whoever it is. A baby is such a blessing!" per TV Shows Ace. When Rebecca finally confirmed the identity of the pregnant woman as Katie Ann, she added, "Most of you guessed it right!!"

The question of why Mary Schmucker, Katie Ann's mother, left "Return to Amish" after Season 5 has sparked the interest of fans in recent months. According to Distractify, fans were "disappointed" upon viewing the Season 6 trailer to learn that Mary would not be part of the season. While Mary never directly addressed why she left the show, fans guessed it could have been because of her "unsteady" position in the Amish church. Others, the outlet reported, guessed that Mary left the show upon learning that Katie Ann was pregnant.

Katie Ann hasn't updated fans on social media

While Katie Ann hasn't updated fans about her whereabouts or shared anything on social media, there is plenty for viewers to be entertained by in the "Return to Amish" world. On October 31, 2021, series star Jeremiah Raber announced on Instagram that his car had been stolen. He wrote, "R.I.P to my car that got stolen this morning sometime." A couple days later, he posted a photo of his wrecked car after it was located, writing, "My stolen car has been recovered, but not without some damage."

Along with Jeremiah's car troubles is the happier news that Sabrina Burkholder gave birth to her fifth child. In September 2021, People reported that Sabrina welcomed her daughter, Kalani Ariyah, with boyfriend Jethro. In the interview, she also opened up about her recovery since suffering from an overdose in 2018. She told the outlet, "I've been clean now for over three years. I moved out of Pennsylvania and changed my 'people, places, things.' I had to change everything in order to become the person that I needed to be. When you hang out with the wrong people and put yourself in that situation over and over, you're never going to get better. You have to be willing to do whatever it takes."

Based on its previous schedule, "Return to Amish" is expected to return around March 2022.
