The "Grey's Anatomy" star has been a staple on the medical drama (taking on roles both in front of the camera and behind it as a director) since 2009, appearing as Dr. Meredith Grey and the gang's seriously talented colleague, Dr. Miranda Bailey, making her way around Grey Sloan Memorial in those infamous Grey's scrubs.
But with such a prominent role on such a huge show that's been on our screens for several years, of course, comes a fair share of interest in the stars' personal lives — particularly in the romance department. We know all about Ellen Pompeo's romance with Chris Ivery and Patrick Dempsey's long-time love with Jillian Fink, but what exactly is going on in Wilson's love life? Well... Chandra Wilson's secret romance
Come in close as we're going to have to whisper this one because it's a pretty big secret. Chandra Wilson's partner is one big mystery! Yep, there's no Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker-esque PDA going on here, as Wilson has never even so much as confirmed her man's name publicly.
The two did walk the red carpet together in the earlier days of her career — even posing together briefly on the red carpet at the BET Awards in 2007 — but she's only rarely opened up about her relationship before in interviews. She has given a little something away though, albeit just a little tidbit.
In 2007, People confirmed that Wilson had an unnamed "longtime partner," with her confessing to Parade they'd already been together for 19 years at that point. As for how they made things work with her busy schedule? She added, "We go back and forth, but it works for us."
That appears to be one of very few times Wilson has actually made any public reference to her boyfriend. He doesn't appear to have even made an appearance on her Instagram account, where she's shared various photos from the "Grey's Anatomy" set over the years.
One thing we do know about this top-secret romance, though? Wilson and her mystery man make a great parenting team!
Chandra Wilson is a mom of three
While details on her romance are very limited, one thing we do know about Chandra Wilson's relationship is that it gave her three beautiful kids. The star confirmed to Parade in 2007 that she's mom to two daughters with her anonymous partner, Serena, born in 1992, Joy, who was born in 1998, and a son, Michael, who was born in 2005.
But we probably shouldn't expect her offspring to follow in her TV footsteps. Wilson admitted at the time that the trio "haven't expressed any interest" in a life in front of or behind the camera, though she joked, "But the middle one is the 'mugger.'"
Wilson also opened up about her eldest daughter, Serena's, health issues in 2017, sharing during an interview with "Good Morning America" that she first started to become ill when she was a teenager and had been experiencing "chronic pain." That meant Wilson had to keep a very close eye on her daughter and monitored her for patterns in her illness. "When you are the parent of someone who is a chronic pain sufferer, you end up creating these binders for all of the hospital stays so you can keep track of every visit and any new thing that comes out," she explained. Serena was eventually being diagnosed with cyclic vomiting syndrome and, thankfully, was able to get the treatment she needed.
