The Real Meaning Behind The Weeknd's I Heard You're Married Featuring Lil Wayne

The Weeknd released his fifth studio album "Dawn FM" on January 7, and it's already doing powerful numbers in the U.K. According to Billboard, soon after its release, the album topped "the midweek chart and is set to be the first title released in 2022 to top the Official U.K. Albums Chart." "Dawn FM" also has a very interesting lineup. Jim Carrey, Quincy Jones, Tyler, the Creator, and electronic music composer Oneohtrix Point Never all made appearances throughout the album. And, of course, the Canada native linked up with hip-hop legend Lil Wayne to create another dope collaboration. The two were first spotted on the 2013 track "I'm Good" for Lil Wayne's mixtape "Dedication 5," and now we can see the duo together again for The Weeknd's latest album.

Lil Wayne and The Weekend's "I Heard You're Married" is about dealing with a married woman. The pop-track — which was produced by Calvin Harris and The Weeknd himself — is all about the guy's reaction to being on the sidelines and the hurt that comes with it. "The way you hypnotized me / I could tell / You've been in control / You manifested this / but girl / I blame myself / Things I shoulda known," the "Can't Feel My Face" artist sings.

"I Heard You're Married" gives a different perspective on how men get played by women as well. But, what's even more intriguing is that there is a major fan theory that this song is actually about Ariana Grande.

Fans believe The Weeknd is dissing a mega pop star

The Weeknd and Ariana Grande collaborated on various tracks, like "Love Me Harder," "Off The Table," and most recently the "Save Your Tears Remix." In 2020, fans speculated the two were dating, but nothing was ever confirmed, per Vulture. Not too long after, TMZ reported Grande tied the knot with her fiance Dalton Gomez. "But why you even with him if you're cheatin'? / And I thought you were someone that I could be with/And it kills me that I'm sharin' you," the Weeknd sings on "I Heard You're Married." Considering the fact that Grande is married, could the song really be about her? Well, let's take a deeper look.

Throughout the chorus, The Weeknd battles with realizing the woman he's in love with is married and it was all "too good to be true." That specific line, according to Vulture, appears on Grande's "Positions" and "Someone Like U," both also from the album "Positions." Lil Wayne and Grande worked together on "Let Me Love You" in 2016 — adding another potential reason the Weeknd possibly chose the Grammy-winning rapper to be a part of the song. Lil Wayne ends the record making it known that he comes second to no one. "Can't be your side b***h / That s**t ain't fly b***h / Can't be your pilot / Can't be your private / Make me your obvious / If I ain't your husband, I can't be your hybrid," he raps.

While nothing has been confirmed, fans are pretty certain this is a diss track directed at Grande.
