JAY-Z Reveals Why He And Beyoncé Named Their Twins Rumi And Sir

Doesn't sound like the famous couple lost much sleep over any important baby naming decisions.

In a new interview on the podcast podcast Rap Radar (via E! News), JAY-Z opened up about how he and his superstar wife came up with their twins' names, Rumi and Sir.

"Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter," JAY-Z, 47, told hosts Elliot Wilson and Brian Miller. "Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir."

In the same interview, JAY-Z also revealed that, though he'd released his latest album, 4:44, in late June, he'd decided to wait until October before he went on tour so that he could spend some uninterrupted time with his family.

"I booked the tour for October so I could have at least four months to just really bond and see their fingers and s**t like that," he explained, adding, "They'll be with me [on tour] anyway but I'm just saying, like, [I needed] a space where I'm not doing anything. I'm just focused on them. I'm not thinking about a show at night or anything like that. That's why the tour is so far away from the release of the album."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, JAY-Z and Beyoncé welcomed their newborn twins in June, months after a memorable pregnancy announcement on Instagram. The "Formation" singer later shared the twins' first photo in July with a social media post that was just as beautiful as you'd imagine.
