Why Matt Damon And Ben Affleck Once Shared A Bank Account

Celebrity besties. We sure do love them. From Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift to Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston to Oprah Winfery and Gayle King, we just can't get enough of a good longtime celebrity friendship. But when we think of celeb BFFs (or CBFFs as we like to call them) there's one pair that stands above the rest, going back years and years and years. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

Whatever you like to call them (both Daffleck and Batt have nice rings to them), there's no denying that these two epitomize the concept of a bromance. The besties have repeatedly gushed about one another in interviews, and Damon was even on hand to whisk Affleck away in a private jet following his and Jennifer Lopez's Georgia wedding in August. Though Lopez wasn't spotted, Affleck was photographed boarding a private jet with Damon and his family, including his children and his wife, Luciana Barroso. See, we told you these two were close!

But just how close are they, we hear you ask? Well, it turns out these famous besties are so close they even once shared a bank account.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon used joint cash for auditions

It turns out Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been looking out for each other for longer than some other famous celebrity best friends have even been alive. Damon dished on their shared cash flow during a 2011 interview with CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight," recalling how they set up a joint account when they were both just starting out and trying to make it as actors. "The bank account was money that we'd made doing local commercials and we could only use it on trips to New York to audition," he shared. "When I look back at that, as 16-year-old and a 14-year-old, I mean we were really young to be taking the bus by ourselves to New York and spending a day going to, you know, an audition. We were living kind of adult lives as teenagers."

Damon dished a little more on how they'd split their funds between them during a joint sit down with Interview back in 2014, recalling, "For five years or so, our bank accounts would get down to the point where we needed to get a job and another job would come along — although it wasn't always a lot of money." Affleck then chimed in, "If either of us needed money he could borrow it from the other. Neither one of us ended up taking. It was never one-sided." How sweet!

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon know how to share

Despite Ben Affleck and Matt Damon going from not very much to multi-millionaires (Affleck is reportedly worth $150 million and Damon has a net worth of $170 million, per Celebrity Net Worth) it sounds like they've always known how to share with one another. "If one kid had enough for a candy bar, then the candy bar was bought and split in half — that's just the way it's been," Damon told Interview.

As for how long they've been friends, Affleck told Parade in 2007 that they became close when he was just 8 and Damon was 10 and they lived two blocks away from one another in Massachusetts. In a sweet revelation, Affleck actually credited Damon for helping him to take his acting career more seriously. "We'd take the train. Or sometimes we'd even take the airplane... It cost like $20 to fly and you could smoke on the plane. We were smoking like idiots because we thought we were really supposed to be grown-up. It was pitiful," he recalled of their trips to the Big Apple to attend auditions. Damon later told Entertainment Tonight, "I think we fed on each other's obsession during really formative, important years and that bonded us for life."

Of course, it all very much worked out for these childhood besties and they've been side by side on several projects together since making it big, including "Good Will Hunting," "School Ties," and "The Last Duel."
